230K a week would be impossible to turn down, if you didn't already earn near enough that much already.

If he goes to City he'll be hated. He loves the club, and as he said he owes Sir Alex a huge debt. Don't think he'll go to City now out of respect for Fergie, so I see Madrid as the destination. Maybe he'll try and get the best deal possible for United, rather than for himself?

Unlikely, but you never know.

"Once a blue, always a blue" ..

Springs to mind. If United fans get on his back for wanting away, he may want to **** them off who knows. 230k a week would be impossible to turn down really...

Man City are on the up, and United are on the Decline. Anything could happen

I honestly think he will respect both the club and Fergie and not move to City. Lets be honest he is only leaving because basicly he feels the club are on a decline not becuase he has fallen out with anyone.

I'm still confident United can win the Premier League, Jacko... and I also feel there is time for this to settle down :) It's just so hyped up at the moment that everyone's thinking drastically.

I think most fans and the club are resigned to losing Rooney now, unless Utd can buy a massive player before Rooney desided to leave then he will be leaving mate.

who says Utd would accept an offer from City? May not be Rooney's decision

Yer thats what some papers are saying, thats why apprarently Chelsea might be intrested because they know if he wants to stay in England and he dosen't go to City then that leaves us.

Chelsea very much a possibility.

Abramovich doesn't spend as much as he once did but I'm sure that Ancelotti would be able to convince him to stump up for such a big name signing.

Anelka and Drogba are both in their 30s and to be honest, I don't think Sturridge will be of the same kind of quality.

I agree and also their is a good chance Drogba might join Marseille at the end of the season and what better player to try and replace him with than Drogba.

a few rooney jokes from mirror sport

Rooney wants to go to Juventus - he'll never turn down an approach from an Old Lady.

After what Rooney's agent has been up to, the Stretford End might have to be renamed soon

John W Henry has bought Rooney for Liverpool. When he told his manager, "Wayne is on the way", Roy Hodgson immediately put up his umbrella.

Nice to see your home fans booing you"... You haven't seen anything yet, Wayne

XD Lol

I liked this:

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: "I haven't read Wayne Rooney's statement, but we'll have a view on it tomorrow and probably put it to bed tomorrow. As I said, the door is open. We keep good players, particularly when they are that young. He wants assurances? Have I won 30 trophies or what?!"

i have to say, im no fan of Man U (obviously) but i do think Rooney is out of order. Ferguson is unquestionably the best manager in the english game since Shankly, and he should command more respect than what he is getting from Rooney. Ferguson would never allow the club to deteriorate into the shambolic state that we (Liverpool) find ourselves in, he'd resign first. Then the Glazers really would have a shitstorm to contend with.

Ferguson planning Rooney response

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will meet with chief executive David Gill on Thursday before issuing a response to Wayne Rooney's statement.
