Hamburg SV 3 1860 Munich 2
(Salihi, Buck)

Hamburg just had too much for 1860 Munich today as they ran out 3-2 winners in and entertaining match here. Bernard's men end the first half of the season in seventh place which is far better than they ever could have expected at the start of the season. Bernard was unavailable for comment after the match.

Bernard Christmas statement

I would like to firstly thank all the fans and the players for helping 1860 Munich to where they are in terms of league position and club stature at this stage. We are well on course to avoid relegation which was undoubtedly our main aim as we were promoted last season.
I would like to wish all the fans and followers of this great club a merry Christmas and I hope to see you all at the games following the winter break.
I will be holding an interview with the Sky Sports news team the week before our first league fixture after the break.

Maurice Edu joins Munich

Rangers central midfielder Maurice Edu has joined 1860 Munich for a deal believed to be around £130,000. 1860 have been missing a strong midfielder and Edu is seen as the perfect candidate to fill that position. The deal for Edu was completed a few months ago and kept under wraps so the transfer money will not be coming out of Bernard's kitty for this window.

Marcone arrives

Right back Marcone has joined up with his new team after signing a deal with the club earlier in the season. The 1860 Munich board supplied the funds to sign the player after Bernard had requested a new right back for the team. Marcone is delighted to be joining up with Bernard and cant wait to break into the 1860 Munich squad.

Bobby Wood leaves

1860 Munich winger Bobby Shou Wood has joined Cardiff in a deal worth £500,000 to the German club. The right sided winger found himself not in Bernard's plans and actively demanded a move away from Munich to play first team football.

1860 Munich 0 Sao Paulo 1

1860 Munich were unlucky today as they lost to Brazilian side Sao Paulo at the Alliance Arena today. Since signing four new players this transfer window 1860 Munich have looked like a new team with a renewed confidence from the players. Munich now play Turkish giants Besiktas in there last mid season friendly.

1860 Munich 2 Besiktas 3
(Okaka, Rakic)

1860 were unlucky in defeat for the second game running today as they were narrowly defeated by Turkish runners up Besiktas today. New singing Okaka scored an equalizer before Rakic put the German's in-front but it wasn't enough as Besiktas came back with the win.

Bernard speaks to the press

Reporter - How do you feel the break has went for your team?
Bernard - It was nice to get a few new faces in and have a chance to try them out before we get back to league action.

Reporter - You signed four new players. Are they four players you see starting from the word go?
Bernard - I will decide that in training over the next few days.

Reporter - Can the players signed help you continue your fine form?
Bernard - Well I would hope so otherwise why would I have signed them?

Reporter - I suppose. Lastly can Okaka fire your team to German Bundesliga survival?
Bernard - I certainly hope so other wise I have just wasted the clubs money.

1860 Munich 0 Bayern Leverkusen 2

1860 Munich were again unlucky as they lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich today. 1860 looked like a new team in the first half and played some great flowing attacking football. But Bayern had to much for them and the title challengers ran out winners in the end. Bernard told reporters,

"We played well and the new lads are settling in well. It was always going to be a tough game and we will now move on from this defeat."

German Cup Quarter Final

Fc Koln 1 1860 Munich 0

1860 Munich crashed out of the German cup as they lost for the second game in a row since the mid season break. Bernard had trouble picking his team up after the break last season and I'm sure he hopes that his team don't suffer the same slow start as they did then.

Schalke 1 1860 Munich 1
(Hanley)

A second half Grant Hanley header secured a point for 1860 Munich as they remained in the top eight of the Bundesliga. Schalke were on top throughout the match but both teams will probably be happy with a point today. Bernard told reporters after the match,

"Its always good to start picking up points again after a break and to have got four points over two games against Schalke is a great achievement for the team. Well done lads."

1860 Munich 0 Wolfsburg 0

1860 Munich were unlucky today as they dominated Wolfsburg at the Alliance Arena but still only came out of the game with a point. Aigner caused Wolfsburg no end of problems on the wing but his crosses were not met with anything in the box and 1860 had to settle for a point.

Frankfurt 2 1860 Munich 4
(Aigner, Halfar, Bruins, Hanley)

Three goals in the last ten minutes earned 1860 Munich there first win in five games and there first since the mid season break. With four different scorers during the match manager Gary Bernard will be hoping 1860 have turned a corner and will start taking there chances during games. Bernard told reporters,

"We were poor until the last twenty minutes or so until we started passing and playing like we know we could. I hope the lads keep it up because we have a good squad and not winning in five games is unacceptable."

Bernard adds striker

Japanese striker Hiroshi Ibusuki has joined up with 1860 Munich on a two year deal as Bernard looks to give himself more options up front for the remainder of the season. The striker formally of Seville until his release in the summer has mainly played his football in the Spanish second division on loan but now has a chance to prove himself at a higher level.

David Mateos joins Munich

Another player who has played his football in the second division of Spanish football is David Mateos. The Spanish central defender joins 1860 Munich on a free transfer as Bernard looks to revive his squad and ensure they stay in the division for next season.

1860 Munich 0 Hertha Berlin 0

1860 Munich manager Gary Bernard will be wondering how his team didnt score tonight as they produced an attacking masterclass with everything apart from a goal. A change in tactics from the usual 4-2-2-2 to a 4-1-2-2-1 saw 1860 create lots more chances but they had to settle for a point. Bernard told reporters,

"The old tactic was getting a little stale and we weren't creating chances so I changed it and after today's display I was right to do so I feel."

Interview with Bernard

Reporter - So as we enter March your team are still in the top eight, is relegation completely out of your mind now?
Bernard - Not at all you can see just how close the league is and until we cant be relegated then the fight goes on.

Reporter - But surly your team wont go down as they fight for a top eight spot?
Bernard - This is football stranger things have happened.

Reporter - You have just recently signed two new players, did you feel the squad wasn't strong enough?
Bernard - Not at all but I seen two plays who I felt would benefit the club long term so they were signed.

Reporter - Okaka still hasn't found the net as an 1860 Munich player yet will he be dropped like the fans are demanding?
Bernard - I pick the team and its all down to training. Anyone could be dropped at anytime, the players know that and fight for positions everyday in training.

Reporter - Lastly can you beat Mainz in your next match?
Bernard - If we play like I know we could, we should do well.

Incredible so far mate. Just read all 10 pages and loved the lot.
If im honest its great to see a story in Germany which isnt in the Bundesliga, It made for interesting reading.
Great signings, youve picked players from everywhere. Particually impressed youve tried out the Asian and North American players.

I'll be following from here on in, Good luck.

Mainz 0 1860 Munich 0
A bore draw was the result today as Mainz and 1860 Munich each took a point from the match. Mainz did have the better of the game and will feel aggrieved that they couldn't get all three points but it was not to be and the game ended with no goals.

Red Devil joins 1860
Irish central midfielder Darron Gibson has joined up with 1860 Munich six months after his Man Utd contract expired. The central midfielder joins 1860 at a time where there are a number of players fighting for his position so it will be interesting to see how he fits in at his new club.

1860 Munich again managed to avoid defeat as they upstaged Hoffenheim today to take all three points. Salihi scored the only goal of the match and he may be called upon for goals more often after the injury to top scorer David Trezeguet today. Bernard told reporters,

"David will be out for around 2 months so its touch and go whether he will play again this season or for the club in general as his contract is also up in the summer."

1860 Munich had there keeper to thank as they earned a point here today extending there unbeaten run to seven games. 1860 have been strong at the back recently but they are also not scoring enough and this will worry manager Gary Bernard heading into the last part of the season. Bernard told reporters,

"we are seven games unbeaten yes but we cant score. Its a fact that we are not scoring enough and this will have to be dealt with for next season should we manage to stay in the division."

Shock as goalkeeper is dropped

There was shock and anger surrounding 1860 Munich today as Bernard announced that long serving goalkeeper Timo Ochs who has been ever present for 1860 during last season's promotion and so far this season has been dropped from the team for the upcoming derby match against league leaders Bayern Munich. Donovan Leon will be the man to replace Ochs for the match. Bernard was unavailable to comment.

Bayern Munich ended 1860's eight match unbeaten run today in what was a routine win for the league leaders. Derby day usually goes of with a bang but this time it was just like any other match for Bayern as they ran out comfortable winners in a match they were expected to win. Bernard told Sky Sport after the match,

"We played ok. Bayern are always expected to win but we didn't do that bad. I will not be making any comments on current or former team sections at this point."

(Okaka)

1860 Munich were unable to stop Koln taking all three points today despite holding a 2-0 lead at one point in the match and Stefano Okaka breaking his scoring hiatus with a brace for 1860. Okaka had not scored for 1860 Munich since he joined in January but his two goals today will have given him confidence heading into the last part of the season.

1860 Munich 0 Dortmund 1

Ten man 1860 Munich slipped to tenth in the league following there third loss in a row at the hands of Dortmund. 1860 need to get out of this dip in form soon as there are still eight games left and relegation can still become an issue for Bernard and his men. Bernard told reporters,

"We were poor again today and we need to improve. All season we have been top eight and now we are slipping, we need to turn this around promptly."

Nurnberg 2 1860 Munich 3

1860 Munich won there first match in six after a poor run to climb back into eighth place in the Bundesliga and ease there relegation fears. 1860 have had no fears of relegation all season but with the recent run of poor results relegation had become a fear for the recently promoted club. Bernard told reporters,

"We played well out there today and we deserved our win. If I am being honest I just want this season to end and build for the future of this club."

1860 Munich 1 Freiburg 1

A late Freiburg equalizer meant it was only a point for 1860 Munich and they sit tenth in the table with only six games left to go. It does men however that one more win and they are safe in the league for another season at least. Mateos scored the goal for 1860 but it wasn't enough as they shared the points with there opponents.

Five points in three games is a good result for 1860 as they look to end the season on a high. With the higher up the league table you finish the more money you get every point is vital at this stage of the campaign. Bernard would not speak to the press after the match.

End of season review

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title finishing ahead of Bayern Leverkusen who had to settle for second place in the league. Recently promoted Frankfurt and a disappointing Hoffenheim side were the two teams relegated from Germany's top tier. Lukas Podolski of Fc Koln finished as top scorer in the league with 21 goals as he guided Fc Koln to fourth place in the league winners of the German cup.

Kaiserslautern made an immediate return to the Bundesliga as they won the second division ahead of Furth who are also promoted as runners up. It wasnt such good news at the other end of the table where Braunschwieg, Heidenheim and Ingolstadt were relegated to the third tier of German football. Mehmet Yildiz who plays for promoted Furth was the top scorer in the league with 15 goals.

RB Leipzig (Who were only formed in 2009) were the champions of the third division and will now play there football in the second tier as off next season. Leipzig have now had back to back promotions. Also promoted was FSV Frankfurt who make and instant return to the second division and Bielefeld who finished third and won the play off. Daniel Frahn was the leagues top scorer with 18 goals. He plays his football at champions Leipzig.
