Manchester United prepare
for Champions League Encounter

gun__1219930181_champions_league_beams.jpg

Manchester United are preparing for their first Champions League match of the campaign against a Panathinaikos side that will be looking to put in a strong performance to put down a gauntlet in Group C after spending £11M on two players in the Summer transfer window, Denys Kulakov and Jean-Alain Fanchone. After performing strongly so far in their domestic campaign remaining unbeaten and conceding just 1 goal in their first 5 matches whilst scoring 17 they will look to scare the Red Devils tomorrow.

Whereas, Manchester United are expected to name a somewhat youthful squad with new boss Sir Ryan Giggs expected to give some youngsters a run out as well as some fringe players to show what they can do. It is likely that Rio Ferdinand will start in defence after falling down the pecking order at the Old Trafford outfit with Jonny Evans stepping into his place alongside Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the United defence. 32 year old Brede Hangeland is also expected to start as Manchester United look to build up his match fitness knowing that they face a busy schedule over the coming months.

With Manchester United facing Liverpool on Saturday at Anfield they will no doubt want to rest a number of first team players to maintain their best interests in securing the Premier League Title for a record 4th consecutive year.

Sir Ryan Giggs' Pre Match Thoughts

'Panathinaikos are no doubt going to be tough opponents as they are currently on a high after putting some great domestic performances in and currently sit top of their league. We will have to put a good performance in today, I feel that the team I have named is capable of getting a result and that it will allow us to perform well at the weekend against Liverpool.'

34 Year old Rio Ferdinand put in a match of the match performance for Manchester United as they struggled to overcome a Panathinaikos side that looked dangerous for the entire 90 minutes but thanks to some great defending and clinical finishing it was the Red Devils that came out on top. Rio Ferdinand opened the scoring for United in the 11th minute after Kilian Kern played a great ball through the defence to the experienced defender who had stayed up from a previous corner to slam a left foot shot past the Panathinaikos keeper.

Against the run of play Panathinaikos star Sotiris Ninis played a great through ball to Djbiril Cisse to fire a well struck effort past Jason Steele in the 29th minute. Manchester United then began to take control of the game and push higher up the pitch and create chance after chance, eventually Sir Ryan was forced to bring on some of the big guns with Wayne Rooney coming on to try and get that winner. That winner eventually came after some industrious work by Wayne Rooney who won the ball from a Panathinaikos defender to play the ball through for Antonio Valencia to dribble the ball around Tzorvas to pass the ball into the net. It was relief for Manchester United who go joint top of Group C after Hamburg defeated Braga 3 - 0 in Germany.

Manchester United prepare for Clash with Title Rivals

IMG_00241.jpg

After their success in midweek against Greek Champions Panathinaikos, Manchester United turn their focus to Saturday's 3 o'clock kick off against Liverpool in a match that could determine both teams fate. Liverpool's Rafa Benitez has already spoken out regarding Sir Ryan Giggs as Manchester United boss saying that he has been lucky in his first 4 matches, and that Liverpool would 'bring them down to size.' This is no doubt a match that people are looking forward to with great anticipation believing that it is going to vital in deciding where the Premier League Trophy will be spending next year, with the results in the last few seasons being the main deciding factor.

Sir Ryan Giggs is expected make wholesale changes with only Jason Steele staying in the Manchester United line up with all 10 of the players who played against Spurs returning to play this vital match. Concerning Liverpool Rafa Benitez has reverted to his old style that he played during his previous spell with the Reds, played a 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 Formation. The line up that we are expecting against Manchester United is...

F Llorente

L Suarez ---- L Modric ---- S Gerrard

R Meireles - M Hamsik

S Bocchetti - D Wilson - R Shawcross - P Zabaleta

J Reina

So far this formation has proved successful for Liverpool with them winning 4 out of their first 5 competitive matches so far this season with the only dropped points being against Chelsea in the 2 - 2 draw away at Stamford Bridge. During this time they have despatched Manchester City 3 - 0, Benfica 5 - 0 and West Ham 4 - 0. Liverpool are certainly going to be a challenge for Sir Ryan Giggs and his Red Devils.

Sir Ryan Giggs Pre-Match thoughts

'Liverpool are no doubt going to look to start the game strongly and get an early goal to put us on the back foot. It is important that we don't let this happen, absorb the early pressure and then push forward ourselves. I believe that this is a match that neither team wants to lose and that both teams want to win, so this certainly makes for great viewing I'm sure.'

In a match of fine margins it was Manchester United who came out on top, with Luis Nani putting in a man of the match performance being a threat to the Liverpool defence for the whole 90 minutes he was on the pitch. It was Liverpool who started the game the better after grabbing a 35th minute lead from Spanish Striker Fernando Llorente who picked up a pass from Luka Modric to fire a shot past Jason Steele in the United goal. Liverpool continued to look dangerous for the remainder of the first half pushing forward and pinning United back.

After coming out for the second half Manchester United looked like a different team, and Luis Nani was at the heart of everything that was good about Manchester United. He worked the ball well down the left flank before firing in a delightful ball to the Mexican Chicarito who took the ball past Jose Reina to finish from a somewhat impossible angle. It was then Wayne Rooney's turn to benefit from United's midfield after receiving a pass from young Welshman Marc Jones on the edge of the area he turned to fire a powerful shot past the Liverpool keeper to make it 2 - 1. Manchester United continued to look the better side and create several goal scoring chances, it was a horrible end to the match for Liverpool who had looked the real deal in the first 45 minutes.

After naming a surprisingly strong squad against Championship strugglers Sheffield United it was not a surprise that Manchester United ran out comfortable 4 - 1 winners. With Sir Ryan Giggs giving first team opportunities to Dimitar Berbatov and once again Marouane Fellaini in the heart of midfield, this time as part of a 4 - 4 - 2. It was Antonio Valencia who would put in the stand out performance against Sheffield United, providing two assists for the Red Devils. Dimitar Berbatov was left delighted after scoring his first goal in 10 hours of football for Manchester United when he popped up with a 19th minute goal. There was a landmark goal for 18 year old Manchester United youth player Michael Nelson who scores his first goal in a competitive match for the club.

Manchester United huffed and puffed early on creating a few chances whilst dominating possession and finally broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Chicarito popped up with his 6th goal in 6 league games, it was a delightful finish from Wayne Rooney's pass. Dimitar Berbatov popped up in the 93rd minute to score his second goal in 2 games after previously not scoring in 10 hours of football.

New Manchester United boss Sir Ryan Giggs has secured the September Manager of the Month Award after leading his team to 4 victories in 4 league matches only conceding 1 goal. It's only early in the season but Manchester United already sit 2 points clear in first place above Arsenal in second who have 16 points from their first 6 matches.

'I am delighted to have won this award but it's thanks to the players performances that I am here accepting it. I feel that we have got off to a great start and hopefully we can maintain this form for the coming season we have got a busy fixture schedule yet again and we look to use our strength in depth to get the best performance out of the team.'

Manchester United face another busy schedule for October and will now doubt aim to continue with the success that they have had so far under new boss Sir Ryan Giggs. The stand out fixture in this months schedule is certainly Manchester United's League Cup 4th Round tie against Leeds United, who have been performing well so far this season and lie in 9th position in the Championship.

Liverpool's Rafa Benitez hits out at United

Rafa-Benitez.jpg

Since returning to English football things were all going swimmingly for the Liverpool's manager until they came up against the unstoppable force that is Manchester United. This is the first time since the match that Rafa Benitez has spoken to the press about the match with their bitter rivals, hitting out by saying 'Ryan Giggs is just enjoying a honeymoon period, the inevitable failure is just around the corner and when it comes we will capitalise on their failure.'

In a match that United ended up winning convincingly it could have been different with Liverpool being the better team for the first 45 minutes without capitalising. They enjoyed long periods of possession but only managed to break through on the one occasion that Fernando Llorente took. Since the defeat to Manchester United, Liverpool have won all three of their matches and will be looking to put the defeat behind them and carry on with this form. Rafa Benitez has also hit out saying that without goals from midfield Manchester United will not be successful this season.

So far Manchester United have scored 13 league goals with all of those 13 goals coming from Chicarito, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov. So far the Red Devil's midfield have been extremely creative but haven't managed to get on the scoresheet, but with a number of quality strikers it is no doubt that Sir Ryan Giggs will not be worrying about Benitez's comments.

It would be great to see Giggs manage Cardiff on this story. It would be fitting!

Yeh I was considering it, but dont think I could make him leave Manchester United to go there, unless its along way down the story line after successes and what not.

Great story so far...Can't wait for the next update. Bad luck for Liverpool though.

Check mine out too. I'm far behind you-just updated it.

Cheers mate :) Oh yeh indeed, although they are doing very well under Benitez which is surprising cause he managed real madrid and Inter on my game and failed miserably.

Can United maintain their form?

680.png

Manchester United boss Sir Ryan Giggs, has targeted victory in their coming Champions League matches and will no doubt be looking to get of to winning ways in their coming match against a Hamburg side that have been performing so well in the Bundesliga.

It is no doubt that the United boss will be making wholesale changes as we have so far seen plenty of squad rotation coming from the Red Devils in an effort to maintain fitness levels in the squad. The strength in depth throughout the Manchester United squad is unbelievable

After falling out of favour under Sir Alex's reign at United Antonio Valencia ended up in Roma on loan last season, but since Sir Ryan Giggs' arrival the Ecuadorian has put in a string of fabulous performances for the Red Devils. Today was certainly no exception, but the stand out player was a certain Juan Manuel Vargas, the 30 year old Peruvian was bang on form as he scored a brace. The scoring was opened in the 1st minute after some fabulous work by Wayne Rooney who bombed down the left flank and fired in a delightful cross for the Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia to slam in a powerful shot at the far post. Manchester United then made it 2 - 0 before 10 minutes after Michael Nelson found him with a good pass on the edge of the area to slam an unstoppable shot past the Hamburg keeper.

After Hamburg scored a goal to make it 2 - 1 in the 20th minute it looked like they may have a way back into the game but that wasn't the case after once again some fabulous work by Wayne Rooney broke free and squared the ball for 18 year old Michael Nelson to step past the keeper and fire the ball into an empty net. Substitute Anderson provided the killer ball for Vargas' second goal of the day that was placed expertly past the keeper to complete the emphatic victory.

Manchester United continued their incredible run of form by brushing aside Avram Grant's West Ham 4 - 1 at Old Trafford after putting in a strong performance. Sir Ryan Giggs' side got off to the best possible start after a corner kick from Marc Jones, Portuguese sensation Nani controlled the ball before smashing in a close range volley, an incredible finish. Manchester United continued to push forward and look for more goals but had to wait until the second half for this goal to come.

The second goal finally game after some great work by Patrice Evra who pushed forward down the left flank and fired a great cross to the far post for Chicarito to pop up and fire in a powerful shot past Rob Green. Vidic assisted the third goal after a long ball forward from the Hammers it was headed forward by the strong centre back for the Little Pea to charge free and fire an unstoppable shot past the despairing keeper. Anderson round off United's performance with a well placed shot from eighteen yards that beat Robert Green.

Focus turns to Qualification

801.png

Sir Ryan Giggs' focus has turned to the final qualifying matches against Greece and Finland to complete their incredible World Cup qualifying campaign after winning all 10 of their matches. To qualify with such ease would be an unbelievable feat for a nation the size of Wales. Wales are likely to recall Gareth Bale and Andy King who both suffered injuries whilst last time on International Duty so will be looking to utilise their stronger players.

In a match where Wales were in complete control from start to finish it was an injury suffered by the influential Gareth Bale after suffering a fractured arm that will keep him out of action for around 4 - 5 weeks. The deadlock was broken in first half injury time with Jack Collison scoring a powerful headed from Gareth Bales great whipped cross to the far post. Wales secured the win in the 79th minute after making it a brace of headers for the Reds after a great set piece delivery from Aaron Ramsey.

Andy King has been in incredible form since Sir Ryan Giggs' retired from football all together and has been an influential figure in their new look attacking force. He put in a man of the match performance today after looking dominant in possession and grabbed the first goal of the game in the 1st minute after Jack Collison worked the ball well down the right flank and finished with a powerful effort from just inside the penalty area.

Andy King turned supplier for Wales' second goal after playing a wonderfully weighted pass through to David Vaughan who came in for the injured Gareth Bale and he lashed one home to make it 2 - 0. Andy King topped off his performance by once again providing his second assist after firing in a great corner for an unexpected James Collins to fire in a powerful half volley to make it 3 - 0.

Wales Qualify in Style

Wales-Fan.jpg

Welsh fans were left delighted after they strolled to success in Brazil 2014 - Group 2, winning all 10 of their qualifying matches conceding just 2 goals. Here is the group as it looked after 10 games.

WorldCupEuropeanQualifyingSectionInformation_Stages-3.png

The shock of the group was that group favourites Holland failed to qualify after losing out to Greece on goal difference. Whilst Wales ran away with the group with a massive +36 goal difference after only conceding 2 goals in 10 qualifying matches. Wales will now be looking forward to the World Cup draw that begins in December. Gareth Bale was Wales' top scorer in the qualification campaign scoring an impressive 9 goals in 8 matches.

Despite retiring in July Sir Ryan Giggs still ended up being the player providing the most assists for their team and also acquiring the highest average rating with an impressive 8.9.

Manchester United return from the International break with an away match at the Reebok Stadium face Owen Coyle's Bolton, who were on a 5 match unbeaten run before they met with title contenders, Liverpool and Chelsea losing both and conceding 7 in the process. Sir Ryan Giggs' side made hard work of a match against Bolton today, the Trotters opened the scoring with Gary Cahill scoring from a set piece. Darren Fletcher was Manchester United's stand out performer against Bolton today after providing two assists. The first of those came when he found Wayne Rooney with a pass on the edge of the area before Wayne smashed in a 30 yard screamer that left Jaaskelainen looking shocked.

Fletcher then found Chicharito with a fabulous weighted pass and put him clean through and the Mexican assassin doesn't miss when given this opportunity and this made it 2 - 1. Marc Jones provided a great cross to the far post for Xabi Prieto to grab United's 3rd and completed their comeback after falling behind in the 9th minute. Jonny Evans was left red faced after being sent off in the 75th minute after receiving a yellow for a second bookable offence. Which would rule him out of United's next game against Aston Villa. Manchester United ended up with Wayne Rooney playing in central midfield in a bid to hold Bolton out and they got a goal back when David Wheater got a goal back 3 minutes later but couldn't capitalise on their numerical advantage and the score remained 2 - 3 to United.

Wayne Rooney put in a performance of the highest quality as Manchester United romped to a 4 - 1 away victory over Portuguese side S.C Braga. Italian sensation Candreva found Rooney with a great pass on the edge of the box where he took it past a defender before lashing it past the keeper. Anderson then turned provider for Wayne Rooney as he put him through on the left flank and Wayne fired a powerful shot past the keeper who didn't stand a chance. Braga looked to have found a way back into the game in the 58th minute after placing a powerful shot past Jason Steele in the United goal, but this didn't last long as super sub Dimitar Berbatov came on to grab a 4 minute brace to put a gloss on the performance.

Manchester United brushed aside Aston Villa in a match where Mexican finisher Chicharito was on top form scoring two great goals for the Red Devils. The scoring however was opened by experienced Rio Ferdinand who scored a headed effort from a Marc Jones cross to make it 1 - 0 in just 6 minutes. It was however curtains for the Manchester United veteran when in the 23rd minute he was forced to depart after suffering a fractured wrist, with Brede Hangeland coming on to replace him. After the break Chicharito struck after receiving a through ball from Wayne Rooney, lashed one in past the despairing Brad Guzan. Manchester United today struggled to overcome a buoyant Leeds United side that have been in good form in the Championship so far. Ryan Giggs named a somewhat under strength side against their rivals and it looked to be the wrong decision on the first half showing with Leeds looking the better side on many occasions. However in the first 23 seconds of the second half Marc Jones played the ball through to Dimitar Berbatov who scored a truly memorable lobbed effort that left Kasper Schmeichal laying on his backside stunned. Leeds continued to push forward to look for an equaliser and Manchester United then secured the game after Dimitar Berbatov played the ball through to Michael Nelson who scored his 3rd goal in 4 games for United.

Sir Ryan Giggs reflects on October

808e9378926845c68205f16dac7dc24d-1.jpg

After once again winning the Manager of the Month award this time for October the United boss reflects on October's results.

'It was a good month for us, we were victorious in all of our matches and have continued to show we have put in some great performances, and look to build on this over the coming months. We have had some outstanding performers amongst the squad with Wayne Rooney and Chicharito among them. I feel that if we can maintain this early season form then there is no reason why we can't do well on all fronts.'

EnglishPremierDivisionInformation_LeagueTable-5.png

Looking at the table after the first 9 matches its possible to see that there are clearly two front runners in the title race so far. With Manchester United not dropping any points in their first 9 matches scoring 23 goals and conceding 6. Arsenal are United's closest rivals after only conceding 1 goal and dropping 2 points, they are certainly becoming a defensively solid unit since Roberto Mancini has taken over the Gunners. There is no doubt that November's fixture at Old Trafford against Arsenal is going to be vital in determining where the Premier League Trophy will end up.

Cheers buddy, :)

Manchester United Star Praises Giggs influence

RooneyInterview.png

In an interview with TalkSPORT Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has spoken to the press about how much of a positive influence Sir Ryan Giggs has had since his arrival. 'It's been amazing since he has arrived, Sir Alex did speak before he left that there would be a suitable replacement for himself, but there are always doubts.' Wayne said, 'For someone to come in and immediately get the team playing the way we have been and bringing in some faces that were on the fringes last season.'

This was speaking regarding the leagues current top scorer Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez who has scored 12 goals in 10 League games and 1 goal in 1 League Cup match. Also Antonio Valencia has returned who has featured 9 times already for United scoring 2 goals and assisting another 2. 'We did feel that these players had things to offer but Sir Alex had recently signed some players and must have felt obliged to play these.'

The Manchester United striker went on to speak about how the morale in the dressing room is sky high and that everyone gets on really well. 'Everyone is friendly with each other and we all have a laugh and a good time. I feel this helps us alot with the success that we have had and how well we are playing already this season.' Wayne Rooney has been Manchester United's top scorer in the last 3 years scoring 97 goals in 133 games for the Red Devils (including this season)

Wayne Rooney spoke of his admiration of Sir Ryan Giggs and how amazed he is at how well he has adapted into becoming manager of the largest club in the world. 'It is incredible, Ryan is an absolute hero to all of us here at United, everyone here has seen what he is capable of and he still gets involved in training and shows the youngsters how it's done.' The new United boss has also brought back club legends Andy Cole and Paul Scholes as coaches, as he felt that having important parts of the club history representing them in training would be beneficial to the youth players. 'It's great to see Paul back, and although I never played with Andy it's great to see him back at the club, he's still got I tell you, can still score he winds up Jason (Steele) in training during penalty training.

Manchester United no doubt hope that they can maintain this great form into the coming months and secure a unprecedented fourth consecutive League Title. In the coming month they face title rivals Arsenal in a match that could be vital. 'We are certainly going to aim to beat Arsenal in this game, we have done it already so far this season in the Community Shield and hope we can recreate that moment.'

Great read so far. Keep it up and Wales qualifying like that is unbelievable. Are you in the top 3 world rankings with Wales?

Yeh ranked one in the World at the moment, cause I mean I went through the confederations cup without losing a match, just lost on penalties so got a good record. Although going to be mighty tough at world cup, draw is 4th december!

Manchester United enter November looking ahead to a busy schedule that consists of 7 domestic matches as well as Ryan Giggs' leaving to take charge of Wales for a friendly. If Manchester United can up the form that has left them leading the Premier League Table ahead of Arsenal by just 2 vital points. The November fixtures are as follows,

With yet another busy month ahead of them Manchester United will no doubt look to secure their Champions League Qualifying against S.C Braga after winning their first three Champions League matches 2 - 1, 4 - 1 and 4 - 1 respectively. They will just need to secure the victory at Old Trafford on the 5th November. This will then allow them to rest some more key players and look to get more victories against the 'lesser' teams in the league.

Sir Ryan Giggs on month ahead

'There are no doubt some tough fixtures coming up, we will look to secure qualification against S.C Braga in Old Trafford, we've got a fantastic record at home, so far scoring 18 goals and conceding just 2 in our 6 home matches this season. It is no doubt that the cauldron of noise that has now been created has helped this. You can visibly see the teams intimidated as they walk out in front of the crowd, it's a great sight.'
