United return to face exciting week

Saturday 23rd August 2014

After returning from international duty the Manchester United squad return to face Middlesbrough today in a match that Cristiano Ronaldo will have an opportunity to score on his home debut in front of a capacity crowd in Old Trafford. Manchester United have already started the season in imperious form scoring 5 goals in their first away game at Portsmouth and now look to maintain their incredible form from last season where they won all 19 home games and scored an unbelievable 73 goals.

Manchester United brushed aside newly promoted in their first home game of the season after a fantastic team performance. From the first minute Manchester United were all over Boro and the deadlock was broken after just 6 minutes when World Cup star Andy King unleashed a fantastic 40 yard curled effort after receiving the ball from Marc Jones. The second goal despite being counted as an own goal, should certainly have gone to the Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo as he won the ball in the air but the ball was was adjudged to have come of Par Hansson despite the shot already being on target.

Chicharito took advantage of Middlesbrough's high defensive line as he got on the end of a headed ball from Jonny Evans before the rounded the keeper and smashed it into an empty net. It was then 3 - 0 when Cristiano Ronaldo fired home his first league goal of the season from the penalty spot after it was handled in the area by a Boro defender. Nemanja Vidic made it 3 goals in 2 Premier League games after getting on the end of Marc Jones' corner kick. The rout was completed in the 73rd minute when Marc Jones scored a sensational effort after receiving the ball from Cristiano Ronaldo before dribbling around 3 defenders and smashing home from close range.

Manchester United face Juventus in Super Cup

Manchester United look to win their third European Super Cup in their history as they face Italian giants Juventus, who defeated Manchester City in the Final of the Europa League last season. Pundits are suggesting that Juventus could upset the Manchester United stream train that has been charging through everything that's crossed it's path so far.

Despite Juventus slumping to a 5th place in last year's Serie A many people still feel that they have some of the attributes required to bring a stop to Manchester United's unbeaten run. With Tenacious defensive midfielder Mohamed Sissoko has been pinpointed as one of the key figures who isn't scared of putting in big tackles and boasts incredible work rate and strength.

A superb second half fight back from Manchester United propelled them to their second trophy of the season as they overcame a resilient Juventus side. Manchester United were largely on the back foot in the first half as Juventus tried to take the game to the Red Devils. The break through eventually came in the 42nd minute when Giovanni Moreno scored a fine header from a Vitale cross after beating Jonny Evans in the air.

After the game Cristiano Ronaldo spoke of the inspirational half time team talk that Sir Ryan Giggs gave and it certainly showed as they came out. Manchester United were on the front foot for the entire second half and eventually made the break through in the 69th minute when Marc Jones picked up the ball from Nani dribbled past Marchisio before unleashing a fantastic 35 yard shot past the despairing Alexandre Oukidja in the Juventus goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo then grabbed his 3rd goal in 4 matches for Manchester United after picking up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and takes on a man before firing a powerful shot into the far corner. Manchester United's goal was a superb effort from Luis Nani who after receiving a pass from Wayne Rooney sprinted to the byline, then took on two defenders before firing the ball into the back of the net. What a turnaround. Manchester United claim the European Super Cup for the third time in their rich history.

United look to September 2014

After already claiming to pieces of silverware so far this season, it is no time for Manchester United to turn their focus onto the coming Champions League, League Cup and Premier League fixtures that will be taking place in September. After receiving a relatively tough draw in the Champions League it is suggested that Manchester United will be naming stronger squads in these matches.

With Manchester United returning from their pre - season they have already despatched of the likes of Chelsea and Juventus with relative ease and have won all their 4 matches so far. The Manchester United fixtures for September are as follows,

So Manchester United face a tough month where the will meet the likes of Champions League and Liverpool in the Premier League, as well as face League 1's Barnet in the Carling Cup. Manchester United will be still be fighting for five trophies this season fighting on five fronts and the best way to show this is to continue their fantastic winning run that now stretches to 14 League games.

United return to face tough away day

Wednesday 3rd September 2014

11-2.png

Manchester United arrived back from their European Super Cup triumph just 2 days ago, and have travelled to Birmingham to face a Mark Hughes side that are notoriously difficult to overcome at St. Andrews. It is expected that Manchester United will make a few changes as they will no doubt have some tired faces in their squad.

680.png
Man Utd unavailable players: Darren Fletcher (suspended), Andy King (thigh strain)

Sir Ryan Giggs has spoken to the possibility of a surprise inclusion for the match against Birmingham City, a signing that somewhat slipped under the radar was a purchase of a certain Mexican Gustavo Amaya, who is a Mexican International who has been plying his trade in Rubin Kazan in the Russian League. We are unable to bring much information regarding the 18 year old.

A double from Cristiano Ronaldo helped Manchester United brush aside a resilient Birmingham City, the match turned dark in the 20th minute when Craig Gardner was sent off for a horrible tackle from behind on Wayne Rooney, who luckily survived injury. This red card ended up in causing double the pain with Cristiano Ronaldo whipping in a ball to the far post for Chicharito to jump the highest and head past the despairing Ben Foster in the Birmingham goal. The second was a trademark dipping free kick from the returning Cristiano Ronaldo that made it 2 - 0 on 28 minutes. New signing Gustavo Amaya proved to be the supplier for the third just before half time as he played a delightful pass for Wayne Rooney who turned to last one in from the edge of the area. Marc Jones turned provider for United's final goal as he whipped a fantastic corner kick into the box for Cristiano Ronaldo to grab his second with a confident volley.

Focus turns to Internationals

After getting Manchester United off to a winning start to September, Sir Ryan Giggs' focus turns to preparation for Wales' European adventure. There are no surprises in the squad that has been announced by the Wales boss as the youth that is no doubt going to become incredibly important is failing to come through. But none the less, as long as Wales' strong spine stays fit then they will have every opportunity of qualifying and continuing in their successful streak.

Manchester United player profile:

AmayaProfile.png

Gustavo Amaya is a tenacious ball winning central midfielder, pairing the ability to put in a fantastic tackle and picking a pass to start an attack, as well as being able to score from range.

Sir Ryan Giggs likes players who have a creative streak and a die hard attitude to work for the team, and the work ethic and technique that this boy posses is immediately visible when you see him on the pitch. There have even been comparisons being made saying that he has Paul Scholes' passing range and Roy Keane's midfield tenacity.

It is easy to see why these comparisons have been made even after the young Mexican has only made 1 appearance for Manchester United when he played against Birmingham City. His tackling ability were evident in that match where he put an incredible industrious performance in for the Red Devils, he also showed signs of his passing range as he beds in with new players around him as he set up Wayne Rooney's goal with a great defence cutting pass.

Gustavo started his career in Argentina with Argentinos, after his family fled Mexico when he was just a child. His stay at club Argentinos was only short lived after he moved in 2013 to Rubin Kazan for a fee of £2.3M. At the age of 14 he was already forcing his way into first team football and was beginning to draw attention from some top clubs in Europe.

So far in his 4 year career Gustavo has made 91 appearances for club sides scoring 4 goals and assisting 11 more. His talent has always been apparent and it was club scout Patrik Andersson who was sent to write up a report on the then 17 year old Manchester United agreed to sign him in January 2014 however this would be in August 2014, when he arrived at Manchester United for a fee of £4M.

Gus has already made 20 appearances scoring 4 goals for his home nation Mexico and played in the World Cup, it is believed that Sir Ryan agreed the fee earlier in the year believing that once other clubs became aware of his talents they would attempt to sign the talented youngster.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS LIVERPOOL

Live from Old Trafford, Manchester

oldtraffordlarge2-1.jpg

Good afternoon, I'm Jeff Stelling and welcome to Sky Sports coverage of a fiercely anticipated match between two most successful English clubs. We are at Old Trafford where we are expecting a capacity crowd of over 95,000 fans.

I'm here joined by Jamie Redknapp and we will be looking at the game and both teams chances. With Manchester United seemingly in unbeatable form at the moment and Liverpool suffering a recent defeat against West Ham, it looks like there can only be one outcome at Old Trafford today. Rafa Benitez doesn't try to hide his belief that Liverpool can get something out of this game and that they aim to show Manchester United what they can do. What do you make of both team's chances today then Jamie?

Jamie-Redknapp-001.jpg

I really think that Manchester United will certainly be the massive favourites but I am sure that it's going to be a really exciting match as this always is. Rafa Benitez will no doubt want to get one over on Manchester United after suffering 4 defeats to Sir Ryan Giggs' side last season with an aggregate score of 11 - 2 in favour of United. I really think that they need to take the game to United and put them on the back foot.

With Cristiano Ronaldo back at United though, they are just such a potent attacking force and he has already scored 5 goals in 5 games for them, so that shows that he is certainly making a massive impact once again.

I'm going to say home win 1 - 0 United, I just think they will be too strong for Liverpool today, they'll give it a good go but I just can't see them overcoming United.

linebreak.png

680.png

Manchester United Lineup:

Unitedvspool.png

Subs: P Evra, C Smalling, M Carrick, A Valencia, D Beckham, M Nelson, D Berbatov

linebreak.png

So Gustavo Amaya starts for Manchester United in their 4 - 2 - 4 formation, it's certainly an attacking lineup. This definitely shows that United will be looking to take the game to Liverpool and putting them on the back foot. Manchester United will be looking to utilise the strength in the wide areas with Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani the main threat, but there's also the ever present Rafael and Gareth Bale who work incredibly hard from their full backs.

Sir Ryan Giggs on Liverpool match
808e9378926845c68205f16dac7dc24d-1.jpg

"Well this is always a great encounter both teams will show incredible passion and I'm sure that it's going to be a great match. (On Gustavo inclusion) He's a great young talent, with a fantastic work rate, and I am looking for someone to play the Fletcher role whilst he remains suspended he fits the bill perfectly. I am sure he'll rise to the occasion."

linebreak.png

676.png

Liverpool Lineup:

Liverpoollineup.png

Subs: B Amos, G Bocaly, D Wilson, D Santon, L Barrios, G Johnson, B Wilkins

linebreak.png

So Liverpool line up in their favoured 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 formation, and will no doubt be looking for Luis Suarez to cut in and and provide support for Fernando Llorente up front. Liverpool will want to send out a warning to other title challengers by beating Manchester United, this is a great opportunity.

Rafa-Benitez.jpg

Rafa Benitez has spoken to the media ahead of the match and has said that they hope to exploit the youngster Gustavo Amaya who starts in midfield for United, and attempt to overrun them. He also spoke and stated that he believed this was the time that Liverpool would overcome their rivals.

1343: Liverpool get us back under way in the second half, no new faces as we kick off.
