Sanchez, Man Utd are after him...

No we're not. You want us to be.. but we're not after Sanchez. He's quick and skillful but with no end product.

Like a South American Walcott.

It's only rumours, we've watched him quite a bit but I doubt anything will happen. The rumour started when Sanchez said he would love to join Man Utd but we won't go for him as we don't need to. Too weak for the premier league anyway IMO.

Martin O' Neill sitting at home watching the news and sees Villa attempting to spend a shitload of money on Darren Bent and going wtf Lerner all I wanted was some money to spend and I was successful and now you give this goon who has you nearly relegated lots of money. Anyway last time Bent made a big money move he flopped. I also think he is too similar a play to Agbonglawhore and that it is a waste of money but hey what do i care

Martin O neil spent a lot of money at aston villa they never challenged for any cups , never challenged in Europe , finishing 7th and 8th in the prem is not succesful when you consider how much he spent!

Tbh I dont know why SAF isnt going in for Pienaar. We need a creative spark in midfield and cant really go wrong for 3 million odd for a proven PL midfielder. :S

Because he wouldn't suit our style of play imo.. we've always had one winger who can cut in and shoot (Nani) and one that can hug the line and cross (Valencia/Giggs). He's going to ask for high wages, and will want to play a lot of football meaning we'd be paying high wages for a back up player.

Only Fergie will know lol. Still, they're unbeaten for a reason

urgh, would hate the idea of spending a fortune to get sanchez, for the same money/bit more we could probably get hamsik, now thats a player we need

As DMF said, Pienaar wouldn't suit our style and we have better players than him in our starting line up atm and with Valencia coming back, Pienaar would just sit on the bench.

Not the player we need, we need a quick winger that'll take players on.

Give Downing a bit of credit, he can take his man on. Also, he's deceptively quick: not Young/Agbonlahor quick, but pretty quick nonetheless. Its playing alongside such speed merchants that makes him look slow. He's probably about as quick as Albrighton, for example.

Firstly, learn to use sentences.

Secondly, MON had shitloads of money to spend, Lerner just wanted to cut down on his ridiculous spending. MON threw a strop and left.

Thirdly, IMO Houllier is as good as O'Neill. If you knew your stuff, you'd know that O'Neill gave Villa plays two days off a week (ludicrously), got us playing hoofball, never EVER rotated the squad, bought mediocre players for stupid amounts and never brought through any young players. Houllier is doing the opposite, and we will reap the rewards sooner or later.

Fourthly, last time Bent made a big money move? You mean, to Sunderland? £10 mil plus additional fees possibly rising to around £16 mil in total? Flopped? Yeah, thought not.

Lastly, you claim Bent is too similar a "play" to Agbonlahor. The former is a clinical, all-round striker, the latter is a superb physical specimen who can play up front or on either wing but lacks finishing talent. Past the fact that they're both strikers, I can see so many differences its ridiculous.

Never challenged for any cups. My word, FM-Base really is breeding a whole load of morons today... So, League Cup final last year, who were the teams? Mmyep, try thinking next time.

Never challenging in Europe is a moot point considering MON (rightly) considered the Europa League as being rubbish. He (rightly) decided that with such a small squad and little squad rotation, it wasn't worth focusing on a trophy of such relative little import.

I agree on the whole with all of this. But bit of a change of heart from last week? ;)

Can i just ask though (what with not being a Villa fan), with Villa payin loads of cash for Bent, where would that leave Young? I've heard a few Villa fans sayin he'll be on his way out, and been browsing a few sites, with the same sort of opinion

If we don't manage to get Suarez, Bent would be worth a punt. Natural goal scorer.

As a matter of fact, I'd be surpirised if we didn't. Being British an' all

Everton apparently bidding for Chris Eagles from Burnley... I do rate the lad, but not sure quite how well he'll fit in...

And Mbokani of Monaco is supposedly signing on loan this week...

Eagles? Yeah, he's a decent little player. Be fairly happy with that tbh

Aaah shaddap. :P Yeah, I know, and my friends have been taking the **** out of me for it, but I dunno... there's something about transfer windows under Houllier that makes me like him. A lot. Also, recent upturns in form, allied with a lowering of expectations, realisation of the good things he's bringing to the club and the arrival of bargain signing Jean Makoun The Twominator, I have rather rethought.

It'd leave Young where he's been for a while now: wanting a move to a big club. He's not old, but he's coming into his prime now, and he wants to move. However, he's actually a rather nice bloke and respects Villa and Villans, and so he still puts in 100% every game. He'll stay 'till the end of this season IMO, and then he'll leave with our blessing.

That boy''s got mad skillz when he wants em....
