What a stupid comment, Hernandez £7million, Van Der Vaart £8million, Mauranoe Chamakh they are bargains and they have been quite impressive for there teams just because they got money dont mean they are going to be spending £18-30million on lower prem players (i.e. jo, santa cruz)

He said bargains aren't always good, which is true.
Joe Cole? Michael Owen? and more.

Stop jumping on him because he usually talks poo (no offence).

What? It´s quite common knowledge that Liverpool has got a lot of injury prone players, and it´s something we have to deal with. And I know that Marveaux also is quite injury-prone and I see him as more of an backup player that might grow with time (if he stays fit). At the moment he isn´t good enough to be a regular starter.

Not sure why you´re giving me accusations of not being a Liverpool fan. I´m quite offended to be honest.

Our only injury prone players I can think of are Agger and Aurelio. :S

Bargains carry much less risk though. We're hardly in City's position, we can't spend 10's of millions on average players because we want to.

Thank you mate ;) And no offence taken from the second one :P

Yeah, they´re definitely the most injury-prone players we have, but then there is:
Gerrard, Skrtel, Johnson, Kelly, Cole and Poulsen who are all quite well known for picking up injuries. Got rid of the worst one in the latest transfer window though! :D

Good he's not coming. Really don't like free transfers, they require a larger wage, and signing on fee, and we've had no real luck with them in recent years, Aurelio & McAllister being the only success'

ive heard romours that leicester are signing a new striker on loan this week but its all hush hush any idea who it is

Douglas Costa in Man Utd directors' box today. Still at Shakhtar, but United have long standing interest

Would be a good signing. Hopefully we sign him.

Why does every top team keep signing our FM players! :'(

There isn't going to be anyone left when FM12 comes out!

Hopefully Shakthar has given us permission to talk to Costa. Would be a good addition to the squad. He has excellent left foot and can strike the ball really well.

Manchester United have their eye back on Shakhtar's Douglas Costa

• Brazilian watches Bolton match as United's guest
• Sir Alex Ferguson previously tried to sign 20-year-old

Original Article

Manchester United have resurrected their longstanding interest in Douglas Costa, the 20-year-old Brazilian who was once hailed as "the new Ronaldinho" and has been on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar for the past four years.

Costa, a part of the Shakhtar Donetsk side that have reached the Champions League quarter-finals, was a guest of the club for the 1-0 defeat of Bolton Wanderers, sitting in the directors' box alongside several of his representatives and United officials.

The club would not make any official comment but the Observer has been told Ferguson still has a serious interest in the player almost two years after he first tried to sign him from the Brazilian club Gremio. The proposed deal fell through at the time and Costa eventually moved to Skakhtar for a cut-price €6m in January 2010. After a slow start, he has become a key member of Mircea Lucescu's squad, scoring 15 goals in 61 appearances.

He has not, however, made an appearance for the Brazil senior team, and United are aware that may lead to problems securing a work permit if they can persuade Shakhtar to do a deal. The fee may also constitute a problem, with Shakhtar understood to want a sizeable profit if they are to lose the Under-20 international. Costa's advisers have been led to believe that may be a minimum £20m.

Ferguson, however, has long rated Costa among the more exciting young talents to emerge from South America, after coming to his attention via the club's extensive scouting network in Brazil. Costa has indicated he would like to move to England, despite having four years of his contract to run.

Costa helped Brazil to victory in the South American Youth Championship in 2009, scoring three goals in the process, but United's interest in the player dates back to when he was 16. Gremio is the club where Ronaldinho made his breakthrough and Costa has obvious similarities in terms of his ability to run with the ball and beat opponents, operating on either flank or in an advanced midfield position.

Thoughts could he replace Paul Scholes?

I would love SAF to realise the Man Utd side currently lacks attacking force in the centre of the park and for him to just pull his finger out, bite the bullet and bring in a creative Centre midfielder

We rely heavily on the wingers and strikers

Fletcher and Carrick are amazing players, but to have both of them in CM, both passing the ball sideways and back doesn't help us

Hopefully he brings in Douglas Costa AND an already established quality attacking midfielder

No way he can replace Scholes as they are completely different players. Suppose Douglas Costa is more likely to join then Pastore now.

Douglas Costa has been linked with us for a while now, so I'm confident that him being at the game means he'll be joining us in the summer. He scored a cracker against Roma the other week and his all-round creativity is something which our midfield is lacking.
