Also, if Barca did go for him he'd probably become first team as he'd be easily the best left back at the club and that's the only position they don't have someone truly world class in.

Everyone wants a piece of him, would love him at united too

Indeed, a player who can play anywhere on the left, IMHO the best left sided player on the planet ATM.

Here we go:

Liverpool have been boosted in the race to sign Portuguese international left back Fabio Coentrao.

The Benfica defender has been linked with an Anfield switch in recent months, and has now revealed his personal feelings towards Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool side.

"I love Liverpool," Coentrao is quoted as saying on Live4Liverpool.

The 11 cap international also admitted that it was nice to be tracked by Real Madrid, and that being coached by the 'Special One' would be difficult to turn down.

"Who would not want to be coached by Mourinho?"

A product of the Rio Ave youth system, Coentrao joined Benfica in 2007. After three loans the following season, the player settled well into the Águias first team and has been a regular for the past two years.

Manchester United have also previously taken an interest in the player, and were again linked less than a week ago by the Daily Mail.

It is Liverpool who have been following the player more closely in recent months though, with scouts reportedly sent to watch the 22-year-old wingback at the Estádio da Luz.

Dalglish has been promised money to spend at Anfield by the club's new owners, NESV, and a left back is thought to be high on the Liverpool agenda in an effort to cover the under-performing Paul Konchesky.

The Reds would hope to negotiate a deal lower than the £20 million valuation, and Liverpool could face competition for the player were an offer for the highly-rated player accepted.

yeah he'd displace adriano in a heartbeat, and abidal has serious concerns at moment

I'd rather have Michal Kadlec, more reliable, especially if we're signing a proper left winger.

Richard Dunne's recent off-field bust-up with Aston Villa coaching staff has caught the attention of Liverpool and Manchester United, with both clubs said to be considering launching bids to sign the Irish defender in the summer.

Dunne has had two very public bust-up's at Villa, the most recent coming after drunken antics during a team bonding exercise. Both Dunne and teammate James Collins were fined two-weeks wages for the incident which happened at a training camp in Leicestershire.

Late last year, Dunne almost came to blows with coach Gary McAllister over a disagreement over tactics.

The Republic of Ireland international may be wayward of late, but a guiding hand could come from either Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool or Sir Alex Ferguson at United.

With an injury crisis striking at the heart of Manchester United's defence, Dunne could be a perfect stop-gap for the club as he nears his peak.

At 31-years of age, Dunne brings with him a wealth of experience, but also a tough tackling mentality which both managers will appreciate.

Although United reported a loss of £105million this week, they would be inclined to bolster defensive stocks which continue to lose players to either suspension or injury.

Liverpool may look to Dunne as a replacement for Greece international Sotirios Kyrgiakos, who may have fallen foul of Dalglish after he gave away a clumsy penalty in the Europa League against Braga.

The solitary goal was successfully defended by the Portuguese side at Anfield, earning their passage through to the quarter-finals.

Just a thought, should we sign Dunne [Highly doubt it] we would have the top 2 own goal scorers in the Premier League!

So happy about the Coentrao quote. Hopefully will see him bombing up and down the left wing come August.

the quote means little to be honest, he also has been complimentary about madrid. At the end of the day he can pick any club he wants

Liverpool have confirmed Brad Jones has joined Derby County on an emergency loan until May 7.

The Australian international goalkeeper arrived at Anfield last summer after signing from Middlesbrough.

Jones made his Reds debut in the League Cup third round tie with Northampton Town in September, but has made just one further senior appearance since.

He will link up with fellow on-loan Red Daniel Ayala at Pride Park.

Good. Seriously, no use to him, why not just do what we're doing now and having young, promising Gulacsi on the bench from the start.

Not sure why Jones is even here. Gulacsi can't be far behind him.

Dont see us signing him unless Bendtner and/or Vela leave

Well, Bendtner isn't a scoring forward, Chamakh hasn't exactly made waves since joining, and Vela cannot get into the side.

Cavani has said that he would like to test himself in England, but Napoli look favourites.
