Thank you prescottrh,

I'm sure now your Sunderland has become another strength force in England, with glory and reputation. I'm really proud that my Combo's tactics have become a small part of your adventure. Nice work, mate!

Anyway, If you can, please choose several of your favorite matches, and send them to me. I have never seen the Combo fluid from any of my testers by my eyes :(

I have no idea how to send you a saved match, I have the save but don't know how to send it.

Good job ! the tactic's owner from fm-vn.com . I'm his tester from the same forum and this tac working well until now

2 different samples of struggling on matches

Okay, hi guys,

So today I’m gonna make a report on two of my very recent matches using Combo tactics. This is not because they are my favorite (actually they are), but due to the fact that the results illustrate clearly how the tactic changes can change the matches in a very different ways!

  1. What I did and the results
Sevilla 1-2 Manchester United

We start the match with 2Combo (Away match). But it was not enough, Negredo scored 1st goal for the Away team right in 9’ of the match. Even after that, Sevilla continued to put on a very high pressure. My attackers cannot launch any chance at all! After that I change tactic just like what I have told you in OP, change Strategy to defensive, and Tight marking, Closing down on Negredo, Jesus Navas, Reyes (three magicians of Sevilla), all set to “Never”. I also set my Wingers and AMC’s Run with the ball to Normal (Before that, they are always), which means that we drop deeper and stand more on our feet. Sevilla chances seem to stop coming. Manchester has defended the middle field bravely until we made counter on 2nd half. Though Welbeck got several clear chances, he just placed some simple shots right in the hands of Sevilla’s goal keeper. So I decide to substitute him by Ademilson, who got us the equal goal in 83’. I’m happy with a draw, so change Strategy to Contain, however Ademilson made it on the break, a magically goal, in 89’.

Manchester United 4-2 Tottenham

I start with 2Combo/ Standard for more cautious approach (Even we’re at Home). Both teams really made chances right from the start. However, Tottenham seems to be better on set-piece, one penalty, and one corner, 2-0 for them in 25’. I notice that our defenders tried it too hard to get ball forward. However, when the ball has been in Tottenham’s half, our attackers still can run with the ball and makes chances. We still make a balance dominance of the matches. So here is my decision: Switch to 1Combo. I sub Evans out (who was 3.6 because he was involved in both Tottenham’s goals) because he get badly nervous. After that, all chances made are toward Tottenham goal. We start to score in 43’, a penalty, and after that, my boys put a really storm until we made it 3-2 in 49’. I switched back to 2Combo/ counter to hold this result; however my boys still made chances. Tottenham's manager even told his player to play it more defensive, even we are leading. Tottenham’s morale seemed to badly damage, and the 4th goal comes easily in 72’.

2. Two different kinds of struggling:

The thing is: the changes made in tactics (More defensive on Sevilla match, more attacking on Tottenham match) seem to oppose each other. But the result of these changes is the same. We gradually retain the possession and after that, fight back.

The reason is that: Man utd’ situations in the 2 matches are totally different. In Sevilla’s clash, we just cannot keep the ball, because they get really great boys in the middle field. They hassle on us; we just struggled on the match. This is the typical kind of struggling, which happens when opponent closes down so quick, marks so tight and their tempo is so high. On this match kind, the solution is that we make direct passing, decrease shot pass, we avoid running with the ball, and we drop deeper and keep standing on feet. We embrace our d-line, hold on the score and wait until some breaks appear; we counter them with pacey striker.

On Tottenham match, I notice that we just are closed down too quickly when my defenders got the ball. We found it too hard to make precise direct passing toward. The ball just keep go out bound. However when ball is passed to our attackers, they’re still make it become chance. This is because the opponents are closing down my defenders, tackling hard on them and shown them to their weaker foot. This is just like a fake status of struggling. So the solution is to push up the d-line, and make some more pressure on the opponent. At that time, I simply thought that with a higher d-line, if my defenders lost the ball, it will be further from my goal. But the result was far more than expected. Tottenham just cannot deal with us when we can get back our possession.

3. Conclusion: This stuff is totally for advanced users (who got familiar to my tactics). I also know that I got a bit lucky in the above cases; I have not expected the results to be so good. But clearly, the situations in these matches are just not the same. If you guys just view matches by “Key” or “Extend”, you may just see that your team is struggling. I am quite sure that you can have your own solutions to solve these kinds of matches, even with better result. The thing is that sometimes you cannot figure out what are happening on the field, because you are viewing it with too little caution. So when you see it is hard on matches, try to slow down the screen, figure things out so that you get chance to reverse the result.

P/S: first half players’ ratings of us are all below 5! In the end, all are above 7 on average. It is clearly comebacks we have made these days!

I think that:

playing one-two
pass rather than shoot
break offside trap
try more killer ball
move into channel
plays at 1st touch

This ones could and should be used in all Combos, i think. They will get the ball to run fast and should make players to only shoot in the right place.

I'm going to try this, only with my regens, so they, at the age of 14-18, will have at least 2 years to learn them and introduce them in the game. Older players will learn one or two.

About Wilshere. i have spent 45 Mill on him. Sold RVP (scored 3 goals, never adapted to striker, AMR or AMC), sold Nani and Valencia. At the end of the season, i've sold Evra, will sell Vidic, Lindergard, Rafael and his brother and just got Giggs to renew until 2018!!!! The only foreigns i will keep until i have my regens developed is Kagawa, and De Gea.

Good luck on new season, mate!

Okay guys,

I have made an update on the OP. The usage now is with auxiliary part for Advanced users (hope that I myself am an advanced one^^):

"3. So here is how to use the combo:

a. Home games: start with 1Combo. However:

  • - If the team struggle to possess it and cannot create chance, switch to 3Combo, change strategy to Counter
  • - If the team waste so many chances and you want some more pressure, switch to 3Combo/ Overload
  • For advanced users (ones who got familiar w Combo tactics): If the team seems to be Hassled, too hard to pass, too hard to run with the ball and too hard to retain it (at Home), switch to 2Combo. Because you have been hassled and dominated with quick tempo by a strong middle field team.
b. Away games: Use 2Combo. Please do not use 1Combo and 3Combo in Away games, except the case where all your direct balls are intercepted by tall opponents (just 1 time happen to me during season)

  • - If the team create some chances and your opponent cannot do the same thing, change strategy to Balance/ Attack
  • - If the opponent is too strong, many chances created toward your goal, change strategy to Defensive/ or Contain (even with Contain tactic you can launch counter and score, don’t worry)
  • - If not much match time left and you want to hold on to the result, change to Defensive, and use this shout: Retain possession, Pass to feet, Drop deeper.
  • For advanced users : (ones got familiar with Combo tactics): If your defenders cannot provide long ball forward. They are closed down quickly by some devil opponents. Balls are out of bond all the time from your defenders, try it by switching to 1Combo or 3Combo, because your defenders are now closed down, tackled hard and shown on weaker foot! Pushing up your D-line by this way may make you safer because the ball will be far from your goal when it is lost. "

This cannot be more sweet tonight! We're now back to the league's top!

I approach this An field match with 2Combo/ Counter. Both teams seems to struggle on scoring so I put on Standard. After that on Control, and during 2nd half Attack!

From 80' I decide to take the risk, Overload! Valencia scored for us in 84'!!

Cannot be more happy for this stay-up-late-gaming decision!

I see your reports and i have to say i'm doing something similar. Playing against big teams, home or away, or away against high pressure teams, makes you change the style of play. I had to use combo3 against Chelsea, at home to get some ball, or else i would be smashed. The long balls weren't working and the change made me go from 0 shots to 3 goals. Still lost the match in penaltys, but i've realised that sticking to a defensive tactic sometimes does not work well for oyur defense, you need to take some risks. With combo 3 i use a lot pass ball into space, and by the flanks, now that i got walcott and bale :) I just don't get with combo 2 was so wasting time! Dzunglv, have you tried to have less wasting? I now understand why my player loose the ball sometimes_! Below, my end of season, using your tactics combo ofc. Btw, won the Charity shield on penaltys against City, won the European Supercup against Bayern Munich and lost the Legue cup game debut against Chelse on penaltys again. 1st on EPL, 1st of October

Here you have a SS of my end of seaosn using your tactics combo. Will post more of the new season

Totally agree with you. Sometimes taking risk equals to pushing up the D-line, which means push the ball further from the goal and it maybe great against opponents who try to "run at defense". However it will be bad against opponent who "pass ball into space"

If you remember, last week I have tried an updated version for 2Combo. Including in that updated tactic, I have tried a new Waste time and play 5 repeated matches with 2Combo, after that reducing 2 knots in Waste time, play 5 different matches, do it again, reduce waste time to new lever, play 5 matches... and so on. At the end, it seems that the default waste time is the best optimized lever, sadly! So after that I decide to remove the updated version on this thread.

And in 2Combo, if you want to bring ball quickly foward, here is what I usually do: set Hold up ball to "No" on 2CMs, reduce Run with ball of them and AMC. Also reduce Run with ball of Wingers if they keep losing ball when dribbling. If you want to increase your fire, maybe increase run from deep for AMC to always. These are some tweaks I recently do with 2Combo and it works great. After finding it more consistent I will make another update.

I will try this:

Take out the hold up ball on all;
Use the learned PPM 1 -2s to increase the speed of passing.
Train 1st touch in all defenders and MCs
Use the shout work the ball into the box

With this i inted to put the ball very fast and quick into the opponent box.

I will not be worried about defense since i believe that if you score 2 or 3 goals on counter, the other team morale will be destroyed. Using hassle opponents on this, will make me dominate the match.

Will test it tonight.

Hello Dzunglv.

I'm really impressed with those tactics combo. Just got one small question - who do You choose for being playmaker? Should it be AMC or one of two MC or just even untick playmaker in team tactics screen? Cheers!

Update:

Champions league game against Benfica, away.

Changed the tempo to the 1st notch in fast and the waste time to the 1st notch of sometimes (seeing the notches form left to right).
All hold up ball was put on NO
Shouts where:

Hassle opponents
Take ball into attack (or something like this)

Tick this item as "None" should be the best in general. It may vary if your team have a brilliant play-maker, but even in my Man Utd (most of the squad is unchanged from the start) I choose none for playmaker.

Away from the game for 2 days. have the new patch being released? Hop it will work, your you might be in a big problem!!

6-1 win over Bayern Leverkusen. Hope that from now on my wingers will do it better because in this match, 2 of my goals were scored by two wingers. AML and AMR were rated over 9. Hope that is the new patch impact!

Edit: First impression for new patch is that individual training is now very convenient. And the dark skin is so good!
