October
1st October 2010 - 16.30pm
A mixed bag of results for Tottenham last month. They lost to Arsenal in the derby and also lost comprehensively to FC Bayern in the Champions League. They still however remain top of the league despite the loss to their arch rivals Arsenal. Martin Jol has been busy sending his scouts over Europe with potential signings in mind. Luis Fabiano (Sevilla), Marek Hamsik (Napoli) and Thomas Muller (FC Bayern) have all been linked. It will only be a matter of time before we see how concrete these rumours are.

Tottenham shone on a day where a lacklustre Wolves side played lazy football. The Wolves team played with no passion or energy and looked like they had no desire to play. It was a performance that will likely enrage their boss Mick McCarthy who looked like he was going to go beserk at the full time whistle. Full credit to Spurs who easily won what could have been a tough game.

Tottenham looked like they were on their way to a fantastic win having scored two goals early on. Tim Cahill had other ideas though and scored two of his own. It was a real midfield battle which saw fantastic tackles from both sides, Tom Huddlestone and Steven Pienaar were among those who particuarly impressed.

Benfica narrowly edged this match with sheer power and determination. A strong Tottenham side couldn't contain the likes on Oscar Cardozo and Javier Saviola who all too often whizzed past the Tottenham defence. It was two set pieces that undid Spurs with both Coentrao and Luiz heading in from corners.

Tottenham fans were singing all sorts of songs about their latest hero none other than Gabby Agbonlahor who scored three fantastic goals against Newcastle. He really left the blocks on fire scoring a first half hattrick. When he was subbed off at just over the seventy-five minute mark he was given a standing ovation by the adoring Spurs fans.

Carling Cup disaster for Tottenham who surely would have looked at this competition as one they could win. Jol fielded a mix of youngsters and experienced players who seemed like they couldn't gel together. Harry Kane was especially disappointing getting carried away in the heat of the moment and earning himself a needless yellow card.

Mark Hughes and Martin Jol were like two mad men on the sidelines both screaming at their teams. The managers aggression seemed to pour onto the pitch as the game turned a bit feisty with six yellow cards being shown, two for the same player resulting in John Pantsil being removed from the pitch. Peter Crouch finished the game off right at the death and sealed Fulhams fate.
Agbonlahor Injured
A Crunching tackle brings down Agbonlahor
Today it has been announced that Gabby Agbonlahor will be out of action for approximately two months as he recovers from a torn hamstring. Fulham midfielder Simon Davies lunged in with an awful tackle which felled Agbonlahor and caused visible pain. He was stretchered off and taken to Hospital where they diagnosed him.
" As soon as I hit the ground I knew it was bad, I felt the pain immediatley and knew I wouldn't be able to play on. Simon Davies has sent his apologies and their is no hard feeling on my behalf, it's football and this happens. I know the lads will deliver and Tottenham will continue to do well without me."
