Quick, everyone befriend DMF!

Or just kidnap his aunt or something.

Reports suggest Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has earned himself a 12-month contract extension at Anfield.

He's not though. He's big, great header, little pace but was signed to replace Hyypia and done it well.

He's good in the air, but he's a terrible defender, not a patch on Hyypia. When I have seen him, he has seemed clumsy, slow on the turn and looks as if he is running through treacle. Surely you want some of the youth potential to get games rather than keep a player like him for back up?

Yeah he's got little pace, but he has very good positional sense which makes up for it most of the time.
He's only on a small wage, and is more than happy to stay back-up while Ayala gets another loan

Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has earned himself a 12-month contract extension at Anfield.

The former Greece international, 32 next month, originally joined on a two-year deal from AEK Athens at the start of the 2009-10 season.

However, written into that agreement was an option for a further year and Press Association Sport understands Kyrgiakos has qualified for that having played the required number of matches last season.

Kyrgiakos was fourth in the pecking order of centre-backs in the previous campaign, behind Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.

With the club looking to reinforce that area this summer his chances could be even more limited and it is possible he will be sold, with a return to his homeland the most likely.

Liverpool have, however, confirmed the departure of a number of reserves with former captain Steve Irwin, Nikola Saric, Jason Banton, Deale Chamberlain, Alex Cooper and Sean Highdale all leaving.

It had been reported that Arsenal have already offered Denilson in a swap deal for fellow Shakhtar midfielder Willian, who is also Brazilian.

But Douglas Costa's agent now thinks that Arsenal are after a different Samba star from the club's ranks - but they won't get him unless they pay up.

Bottega said: "The Gunners have offered the club Denilson in exchange for Douglas but Shakhtar said no. They are not interested in Denilson and would want only money."

Not sure if this has been posted today, as I haven't had much time to browse, but Woodgate has been released by Tottenham Hotspur after failing to agree a pay-as-you-play contract.

BBC Sport - £22m bid for Luka Modric ridiculous - Harry Redknapp

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says Chelsea's reported £22m bid for midfielder Luka Modric is "ridiculous".

Redknapp told BBC Sport that he was not aware of an official approach for the 25-year-old Croatia international.

"Luka is not for sale," said Redknapp, who remains determined to hold on to his best players this summer.

"But if there has been a bid of £22m that is ridiculous. There are people being sold for £20m who are not fit to lace Luka's boots."

Earlier on Thursday, Modric's representative told BBC Sport that the player would command a transfer fee in excess of the figure being quoted in reports.

"Luka is happy at Spurs but if an offer came in that was acceptable to the club and player, we would be willing to discuss it," said agent Nikky Vuksan.

"In my opinion, £22m is a valuation that is too low for the player."

Modric arrived at Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008, costing £16.6m. He quickly established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet, and in his second season he helped the White Hart Lane club to qualify for Champions League for the first time.

In his 120 games for the north Londoners he has scored 12 goals and his impressive displays as the creative force in the side has reportedly attracted attention from Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona.

Modric signed a new six-year deal at the club only last year and Redknapp recently insisted the player is not for sale, describing him as "irreplaceable".

But last month Modric told he Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List: "If an offer comes which is good for Tottenham and for me also, then a transfer is possible."

Meanwhile, Redknapp has failed to agree a pay-as-you-play contract with defender Jonathan Woodgate and the injury-plagued 31-year-old has been released by the club.

Bold part. The rest is about Modric.

Harry that was brilliant.. XD

The Guardian are running a story that he has taken a medical with us:

Liverpool have moved closer to signing Sylvain Marveaux on a free transfer after the French midfielder underwent a medical on Merseyside.

The 25-year-old is out of contract following five seasons in the Rennes first team and has been linked with a move to Anfield since January.

Talks took place between Liverpool officials and Marveaux's representatives when Roy Hodgson was manager, although the club's director of football Damien Comolli has overseen the transfer and interest has not waned since Kenny Dalglish took charge.

Marveaux made only 10 appearances for Rennes last season due to a serious groin injury but, providing he passes the medical, the left-sided midfielder is likely to become Liverpool's second capture of the summer following the arrival of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland.

God no.

Latest #mufc rumours suggesting that both Modric and Sanchez will join United, and Berbatov will be heading back to Spurs.

I'd take that. Without doubt.
