June Fixtures
Knattspyrnufelag Reykjavikur 1-2 Stjarnan (Icelandic Premier League)

Our record of 27 straight league wins, which stretched back to the season before last is brought to a halt by Stjarnan. Our defense were awful and pretty much gift-wrapped Stjarnan the victory.

We were very average today, as you can see from the player ratings. Despite the 3-1 win I wasn't exactly pleased with the performance. The main thing is we won though.

A much better performance here. We were in control throughout the game and deserved our 4-1 victory over high-flying 'Vikingur O.'

I was very happy with our attacking display, but I don't know what happened to our defense. I'm starting to forget what a clean sheet actually looks like.

So that's what a clean sheet looks like... We played well and the 'Tor Skippervik & Olli Nygard' partnership continued to work very well.

A good performance here, and we kept another clean sheet. Hopefully we've put a stop to the defensive problems now.
Icelandic Premier League Table

We are 2 points clear at the top of the league, despite not doing well defensively. We have already conceded more goals than we conceded in the whole of last season, and were not even half way through this season.
Player Of The Month

It was never going to be a defender this month. Star striker Olli Nygard was our best player this month. Him & Tor Skippervik were about the only 2 players I was happy with.
New Signing

'Birkir Mar Magnusson' is the new signing I mentioned last month. Nearly 3 years ago I let him go to Scottish side Rangers for a fee of almost ?4.5M, and now just under 3 years later i'm bringing him back on a free transfer. To be honest I didn't really want to lose him in the first place but at the time the offer was too good to refuse.
He came back at the start of the month, and played in 2 games, but unfortunately picked up an injury in our 5-3 win over Haukar and will be missing for about 6 weeks. It's a shame he's injured so soon after returning to the club. When he's back from injury he will be used mainly as a rotation option.

3 players leave the club this month.
Lets start off with the big one. Central midfielder 'Solvi Sigrjonsson' leaves us to join French side 'LOSC Lille' for a record sale of ?10.75m. He was 3rd choice for the central midfield spot and his performances seemed to be gradually declining so it made sense to sell him.
'Juan Manuel Paredes' also leaves to join English side Fulham for a fee of ?5.75m. He was a first choice striker up until the start of this season, and I feel the offer was good for someone who is now a backup striker. I can't imagine he will start for Fulham though having looked at their squad.
The final outgoing this month was young striker 'Kjartan Henry Sigurburgsson' joining English side Leicester City on loan.
European Club Coefficients
View attachment 394149
A couple of years ago Iceland's European coefficients had risen so much that my club as Premier League champions were finally guaranteed an automatic place in the Champions League group stage. Iceland were ranked 9th in the European coefficients and I though that was where our Nation would push on and look to start challenging the big nations.
Last year Iceland's European coefficients had dropped down 1 place to 10th position. That didn't have too much effect on me as I was still guaranteed that automatic champions league group stage spot.
However this year things have turned for the worst. Iceland's European coefficients have again dropped, this time by 4 places into 14th position which means I no longer hold that Champions League group stage spot & i'm going to need to qualify for the group stages from the 3rd qualifying round. This is going to be a pain for me as I will be required to play 4 more fixtures in a period which is usually busy.
The cause of our coefficients decline? Well in the last 2 years I have finished 3rd my champions league group (which is where i'm expected to finish) and dropped into the Europa League where I have been knocked out in the first knockout round, but for a few years before that I had caused a shock in the champions league and finished 2nd in my group for 3 seasons in a row which boosted Iceland's coefficients, even though I was always kicked out in the first knockout round.
Also teams from other nations who we overtook a couple of years back have had a decent few years boosting their countries coefficients at the expense of ours.
Unfortunately the other Icelandic teams haven't been of any help either, as still no other team has managed to make the group stages of any European competition, and are constantly being battered in the qualifying rounds despite having decent squads now.
I guess i'll have to either finish 2nd in my Champions League group, finish 3rd and drop into the Europa League but go on an amazing run, or hope another Icelandic side can make the group stage of a European competition. Either way I need that automatic Champions League spot back.
What To Expect In The Next Update
Will our defense still look shaky?
Will there be any more transfers to talk about?
