FIFA Ballon d'Or 2015 Shortlist - Top 10

View attachment 251107
So this is how the top 10 currently stand in the shortlist for this year FIFA Ballon d’Or award.

Will Ronaldo be able to keep his crown for another year? In my personal opinion he deserves it, despite the fact that Messi may have slightly out performed him in ‘Average Rating’ and his Assist and PoM ratios are better, when you look at the personal and team accolades they have won over the last 11 months there is no comparison:

Cristiano Ronaldo

BBVA La Liga Winners Medal
BBVA La Liga Pichichi Award
BBVA La Liga Team of the Year Inclusion
Copa Del Ray Winners Medal
Club World Championship Winners Medal
Spanish Super Cup Winners Medal
Europe Top Marksmen

Lionel Messi

BBVA La Liga Pichichi 3rd Place

Not even a Team of the Year inclusion for Messi last year, I think this speaks volumes and the crown should firmly stay with the King.

Real Madrid Inclusions

We have an impressive 10 inclusions in this years short-list, 2nd place being Manchester United with 4 and then four other teams with 3 players included. This shows the individual talent we now have on display here at Real Madrid, I think I may have created a team worthy of the name 'Galactico'.

La Liga
Week 15 *

View attachment 251076
A good result, we have now extended our run in the league to 15 unbeaten this season an 14 wins in a row. Hazard's form has really dropped off over the last month or so, I may consider resting him for a few matches.

League Table

View attachment 251075
15 matches played, 11 points ahead of Barcelona in second, best goals for and against, the best individual performers in the league. I think it is safe to say it will take a monumental fall off of the wagon to mess this up.

* Looking back, I don't know how I have done it but I have managed to count to 15 incorrectly. Most of the headings to date have been wrong. All I can do is apologise for my stupidity and assure you I am on Week 15 now in the league and my apparent lack of knowledge of numbers 1-38 will be addressed!

I admit I did field a very week starting line up including a majority of our reserve players due to our next match being the crunch game against Manchester United, but I never expected to go in at half time 2-0 down, out came the big guns for the second half and we luckily fought back to 2-2.

Champions League Group Stages
Match Day 6

Kick off..

Half time whistle..

Apart from a few shots off target and quite a lot of poor challenges, that was it. So far the result suits us but just one slip up could see us exit the competition at this stage.

My half time team talk was one of anger, frustration, nerves and passion. I sent them out telling them that if they truelly want to be considered the best Real Madrid side of all time then they need to win this trophy, otherwise they could end up just being another group of ‘should have been’ Galacticos.

The referee blew the whistle for the second half, Hernandez took the centre kick and from that moment we chased, harassed and pressured them all over the pitch.

53’ – Hernandez turns in the box, Pogba leaves a leg in and Chicharito goes down like he has been shot.. Penalty!!! Pogba is given a yellow card.

54’ – Hernandez steps up to take the penalty, he looks focused.. he places it left, Casillas goes right.. Goal!!

Manchester United 1 Real Madrid 0

A this point I am screaming at the players ‘Show some Fu**ing passion for F**k sake!’

62’ – Corner for Real Madrid. Kroos runs over to take, looks up and sees players scrambling in the box. The ball is floated across, it appears to be an easy clearance for Evans. Ramos comes running deep into the 6 yard box, he leaps up above Evans.. GOOOOAAAAAAL!!!!

Manchester United 1 Real Madrid 1

As the clock is ticking down, both sets fans, players and managers are anxious, if it stays like this Real Madrid are through..

86’ – Manchester United have possession of the ball, mostly in the middle of the park as they look to create an opening. The ball is played out wide to ex-Real Madrid man Angel Di Maria, he looks up for options but decides to play it square to Blind..

Blind’s control is poor and his touch lets him down, Depay is on him in a flash, Depay steals the ball, rounds Jones.. He is through on goal…

Depay… Depay… GOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!

Manchester United 1 Real Madrid 2

Surely that goal sees Real Madrid through to the knockout round of the Champions League, the away support is in raptures!!

94’ – The Referee blows the Final Whistle.. Real Madrid players are absolute ecstatic after that closely fought match!

Final Group C Table

So Marseille won their final game against Plzen and thanks to our two poor performances against them in the group they finish above us in first place. I hope we do not have to face them again later on in the competition.

Great last gasp victory vs Utd! Depay looks a bit special on this game doesn't he?

Ramos who is linked with United and Depay who has signed to knock them out:P

The irony ay ;)

Cheers, I was nearly reduced to tears when the penalty went in. Depay is a blinding player on this save, right up there with Ronaldo, Hazard and keeping Bale out of the team!

Great result there mate, hopefully you can push on in europe now, may just need to have a look at your tactic for europe, fingers crossed you get a decent draw.

Cheers mate. I think you are right, definitely needs some tweaking. For some reason we seem to be able to have just as many shots on goal but we can't finish. Fingers crossed, although the the 2nd place finish won't do us any favours.

Copa Del Rey
4th Round - 2nd Leg

After our poor performance in the first leg, I am relieved to see us dominate in the second. Despite the Spanish Cup not being high on the boards priorities, every competition matters for my personal collection and we have a great chance of retaining our title.

La Liga Round Up

We dropped points for the first time in the league for a long time against Elche, it was another one of those games that left me screaming 'How the F**k', I’m not exactly going to start ringing the alarm bells but Barcelona have been in sparkling form over the past 10 weeks or so and also haven’t dropped a single point, on top of that the El Classico derby will be coming shortly and a loss in that could see Barca right back in the race.

Champions League
Round of 16 Draw

View attachment 250703
When you look at the remaining teams in the competition I think we got a decent draw. We should have enough to see us through to the quarters, I just hope we don't get Shakhtar again in the next round, they are fresh from the World Club Championship win and still in great from.

Caught up with this! Lovely read and weird to see Ronaldo not make the TotY...

Keep it up mate

We coasted past Cordoba without any fuss. We had a pretty easy ride so far, however we have a much tougher test in Valencia in the next round.

A good win but the day was definitely overshadowed by the legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo breaking the clubs goal scoring record held by former legend Raul.

La Liga
Week 20

View attachment 250666
This was a game for the neutral, I am devestated to have lost to our closest rival but they fully deserved the win on the day and they even managed to do it without their main man Messi.

I have now flipped the cover on the alarm button, my hand is hovering over, I am not quite ready to hit it yet!

Copa Del Rey
Quarter-Final - 2nd Leg

We made hard work of this tie in the first leg, as usual we had the possession and the shots, we just couldnt make them count. As has been the case for much of this season, we pulled the performance out of the bag when it really mattered and put in a great performance in the 2nd leg to book our place in the Semi's.
