Chelsea v QPR

View attachment 271389

First up in December is a West London Derby against QPR.

View attachment 271387

My finest match at Chelsea manager! We hit QPR for 7 in front of our homes fans, the days of boring, boring Chelsea are well behind us! Eden Hazard and James Rodriguez were so threatening going forward and just clearly had too much ability for the QPR defence to deal with. A couple of goals from set-pieces in true Chelsea style from captain John Terry and Gary Cahill. The only slight negative was conceding a goal but I can't be too critical!

The FA Cup 3rd Round Draw was made this weekend;

View attachment 271386

A home draw is always favourable given our home record so far this season! Mark Hughes brings his Nottingham Forest side to try and cause an upset.

Liverpool v Chelsea

View attachment 271383

We now face a mouthwatering top of the table clash at Anfield. We come into this off the back of that 7-1 win so confidence is sky high.

View attachment 271382

It turned out to be an absolute classic but I'm tearing my hair out! We were 3-0 up and ended up losing 5-3 - absolutely unacceptable!! Eden Hazard tore them apart for the first half an hour but as soon as they got a couple back before half time we were never in the game. Daniel Sturridge was lethal and it was John Ruddy's own goal which gave them the lead. Thibaut Courtois is out injured so Ruddy is standing in and did himself no favours with this performance. A bad day at the office and something needs to be done about it!

Man Utd v Chelsea

View attachment 271381

Capital One Cup Quarter Final against Man Utd next. It's at this stage of the tournament you think about winning it and if we knock Man Utd out I have a very good chance of my first trophy as Chelsea manager.

View attachment 271380

It's another defeat against one of our main rivals! At least this time it didn't effect our league position. The board classed the Capital One Cup as unimportant so to go out isn't too much of a blow but I need to change something or else we won't be competing for the title.

The Champions League Knock Out Round Draw was made;

View attachment 271379

We could not have asked for a better draw!

Chelsea v West Brom

View attachment 271376

After two defeats on the bounce I've tweaked our tactics. I've made the full backs play as wing backs and I've moved both wingers inside to create 3 CAM's. I've pushed our CM's back to two CDM's to protect the back 4. Let's see how this plays out.

View attachment 271375

We all know John Terry is great from set pieces but to score a hat trick is a bit much! All in all the change of formation worked for this match at least as we dominated from start to finish. It'll be interesting to see how it develops over time against tougher opponents.

Also there was the start of the managerial merry-go-round this weekend;

Swansea v Chelsea

View attachment 271365

Next up is a trip to the Liberty Stadium to face a very impressive Swansea City. This won't be an easy game.

View attachment 271364

It's another win and a second clean sheet in a row too. Diego Costa is the hero with a brace, he was very clinical in front of goal today. Just look at the match stats and that tells you the dominance we had in this match.

Chelsea v Southampton

View attachment 271363

We want to continue this run through to the New Year. It's early days but this new formation seems to be paying off as we're playing much better football as a result.

View attachment 271362

It's another dominant performance and a second 2-0 win in a row. We're still yet to concede since switching to two CDM's infront of the back four, we look a lot more solid. One of those CDM's Nemanja Matic even popped up with a rare brace today to win the game for us!

Burnley v Chelsea

View attachment 271361

We finish 2016 with a trip to lowly Burnley. With 3 wins in a row we are looking to make that 4 and end December a lot better than how it began.

View attachment 271360

Another 2-0 win! The match stats will show you again how we're limiting our opponents to very few chances so we just don't look like conceding. Diego Costa and Willian got the goals on this occasion.

December Overview

View attachment 271359

December was an indifferent month but it ended well so we go into 2017 with confidence high in the camp.

View attachment 271358

We are now 4 points off the top, losing 1 point on Man Utd over the month of December. We really need to kick on now and take this Premier League title back from Liverpool's grasp.

Watford v Chelsea

View attachment 271348

We play this match 2 days after our previous match. It's what happens over the Christmas/New Year period and we have to utilise our squad in order to cope with it.

View attachment 271347

We couldn't cope and Watford were just better on the day. They've had a great season so far and this is the first time really that our new formation has come unstuck. I'm not going to overreact to this result as it's probably tiredness kicking in.

Some mixed results there mate but I reckon you will come good by the end of the season!

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest

View attachment 271346

It's FA Cup 3rd Round day which is always a big day in the English footballing calender. There are lots of glamorous ties including Lincoln City v Man Utd! Ours isn't so glamorous but it's another chance for some youngsters to get game time.

View attachment 271345

A 1-0 win courtesy of a Gary Cahill header. Pure domination but we failed to score as many as our play deserved. We're in the draw for the 4th Round which was drawn after the weekends matches;

View attachment 271344

We get another Championship side and a trip to the King's Power Stadium.

Tottenham v Chelsea

View attachment 271343

Tottenham are probably the fan's biggest rivals in the league. There is nothing the Chelsea fans relish more than a win at White Hart Lane.

View attachment 271342

We were the better team and deserved the win. The fans will have the bragging rights for the next few months thanks to a stunning late winner from Luciano Vietto - what a way to endear yourself to the fans! We played with 10 men for the latter stages due to Willian's straight red but we were the only team looking to win the match and we got our rewards.

Chelsea v Man Utd

View attachment 271336

We face a massive match against table topping Man Utd next!

View attachment 271335

What a performance! We outplayed Man Utd from start to finish and we reversed our 4-1 defeat to them earlier in the season. Eden Hazard and James Rodriguez were too hot to handle for their defence throughout the game and both deserved their goals. Luciano Vietto scored his second in as many games but he is still moaning about not getting enough game time - keep doing what your doing and you'll get minutes.

Leicester v Chelsea

View attachment 271328

We have a trip to Championship side Leicester now in the FA Cup 4th Round on the back of wins against Tottenham and Man Utd.

View attachment 271327

Similar to the 3rd Round game against Nottm Forest - we dominated but could only win 1-0. Eden Hazard scored the winner on the day as we march on in the FA Cup.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

View attachment 271325

We host Crystal Palace in another London derby, but in the build up we had to sell one of our first team players;

View attachment 271318

He was asking to leave and was causing disturbances in the dressing room so it's best to cut our losses and let him go. It's a shame as he could have made a great career here.

View attachment 271317

Domination. Diego Costa bagged himself a hat trick in a very thorough victory for the side. He's been in and out with injuries this season and it's about time he started scoring like I know he can.

Chelsea v Everton

View attachment 271316

The final match of January is in front of our home fans against Everton.

View attachment 271308

We are really finding our form and we look SO deadly going forward that teams are struggling to cope with us. This is a new Chelsea, fast free-flowing attacking football and taking teams apart at will. Eden Hazard scored a brace, Willian got a goal and Man of the Match, but I'm very happy for Dominic Solanke who scored late on with a great finish.

January Overview

View attachment 271303

Apart from the little blip against Watford at the start of the month, it's been a great start to the year!

View attachment 271302

The title race is really heating up now, not much in it between the top 3 and you can't count Man City out of it yet.

We return to Champions League action this month and we have a big FA Cup match against Liverpool, but in the league they are all winnable games so this is the time to push on for the title.

Aston Villa v Chelsea

View attachment 271295

Aston Villa are our next opponents. From now on I will also be updating our rival's results (Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City) to keep an idea on how the league is shaping out after every match.

View attachment 271294

3 more goals and 3 more points. Another clean sheet, so all in all a pretty perfect day at the office as far as we're concerned. Diego Costa is finding his goalscoring touch with another brace here.

How did our rivals get on?

View attachment 271293

Man Utd slip up away at Jose Mourinho's Newcastle but the other two both win.

How does that affect the top 4?

View attachment 271292

Liverpool take top spot but we're just 2 points behind now.

Chelsea v West Ham

View attachment 271285

Up next is West Ham at home. It's a winnable game but so are our 3 rival's games as well.

View attachment 271284

3-0 again and it's another win and another clean sheet - this is some run we're on! Diego Costa scored another brace and Dominic Solanke scores from the bench again in an impressive performance.

How did our rivals get on?

View attachment 271283
View attachment 271282

Liverpool slip up as the other two record comfortable victories.

What does that mean for the top 4?

View attachment 271281

We take the lead from Liverpool on goal difference but just one point separates the top 3.

Viktoria Plzen v Chelsea

View attachment 271280

We travel to the Czech Republic to face Viktoria Plzen in the last 16 of the Champions League. We are strong favourites but we mustn't underestimate them as they've done something right to get this far.

View attachment 271279

They gave us a scare but we come out on top with 2 away goals. Willian and Diego Costa scored to give us a massive advantage for our return leg at Stamford Bridge.

In the Premier League Man Utd played their game in hand;

View attachment 271278

A surprising defeat at Villa Park which does us a huge favour, leaving the top 4 as you were with everyone having played the same amount of matches;
