Jones Brings Luck In Carling Cup Draw!]
After Wigan managed to play off a late win against Burnley in the Carling Cup Fourth Round they had eagerly been waiting on their toes for the quarter final draw! The draw took place October 30th, the same day Wigan faced Arsenal at home, However Neville was unable to attend the draw due to the game so sent assistant manager Graeme Jones to report back instead.

Manchester United Vs Aston Villa
Nottingham Forest Vs Wigan Athletic
Wolves Vs Fulham
Chelsea Vs Blackpool

Wigan got the luck of the quarter final draw as they had been drawn for an away tie against the lowest team in the competition! They were set to travel to play Nottingham Forest in the Carling Cup Quarter Final, eagerly hoping to progress through to the next round! Elsewhere holders Manchester United host Aston Villa, Wolves will host Fulham and Chelsea will look to use their home advantage against a so far poor Blackpool side!

Wigan End September Poorly As Arsenal Ease To Victory!
Arsenal visited the DW stadium today looking for three points to move them up from third! Whilst Wigan had changed their set up in order to be more defensive and maybe ****** a point! The media sources and odds were highly stacked against Wigan! But could they pull off another sensational point?

arsenal-vs-wigan-athletic.jpg

Wigan1 - 4 Arsenal
Rodallega (51) - Arshavin (10) Nasri (36, 57) Walcott (68)
Wigan were in poor form against a valiant Arsenal side who were set to take no prisoners! Arsenal started brightly when Russian Arshavin found the net within the first 10minutes! Arsenal carried on pressing and found a second from Nasri! After the break Rodallega looked to get Wigan back on track as he pulled the scores back to 2-1! Nasri then scored his second just 6minutes after! Walcott rounded up the routing in the 68th minute from a free kick! Wigan needed to rebuild!

(Nasri celebrates at full time after netting two for Arsenal in their 4-1 win!)

Wigan Drop More Points..This Time At The Lane!
After their humiliating defeat to Arsenal, Wigan looked to bounce back as they were set to play a Tottenham side who were short of form, Tottenham who were placed just two positions higher than Wigan in 12th were looking shaky and Neville hoped to use this to his advantage!

Tottenham 1 - 0 Wigan
Dawson (67)
Micheal Dawson's 67th minute header from a corner was enough to see these two teams split! so close in the table before and so far apart now! A brilliant header from the English centre back made it 1-0 after a closely fought first half! Wigan had no response though as the succumbed to another defeat and dropped to 15th!

(Dawson pleases fans with winner!)

That's Just Football!
After playing five games in the Premier League without a win Wigan were looking to bounce back as they faced Newcastle at home and knew they could climb above them and potentially go 11th with a win today! Wigan were set to name the same squad with in form keeper Ali Al Habsi still pleasing manager Gary Neville!

wigan-v-newcastle-mb.png

Wigan 2 - 3 Newcastle
Neymar (28) N'Zogbia (54) - Milevskyi (Pen.57, Pen.60) Jonas (90)
Neville lost his rag after this game and flipped out at his team as they threw away a vital two goal lead and as Gary Caldwell gave away two penalties in 3minutes! Neymar broke his scoring drought as he put the blues 1 up after 28 minutes! N'zogbia doubled it after the break but then things turned from good to awful! Gary Caldwell brought down Best inside the box and Milevskyi converted the penalty, just three minutes after Gary Caldwell again made another error as he brought down Taylor in the box! Again Milevskyi stepped up and converted the penalty. Rodallega had a chance to wrap up the win in the 89th minute from the spot but his penalty was saved and then on the counter and with some sloppy defending Jonas scored passed Al Habsi and had won the game for Newcastle!

Neville Receives Second Warning From FA...
gary_neville_788324c.jpg

After the match Gary Neville sat infront of the media and cussed the referee of todays game! Martin Atkinson was in charge and Neville feels he had an awful game and maybe he was past it! After awarding two penalties within three minutes which were clearly not fouls! Neville went on to rant how the rules change between each team and if your a low team then you don't get any respect!

Martin Atkinson: Don't Bully The Ref's!
martin_atklinson2_1516781c.jpg

After hearing Gary Nevilles comments towards his approach to the game yesterday Atkinson has remarkably hit back at Neville and has said this in a statement:
Gary Neville has always been one to argue with a referees decision! Since he started playing for Manchester United if one decision didn't go his way he would be on the referees back until the full time whistle! And now its the same when he is managing! He can't take it when his team are behind and he is beginning to bully referees. If this continues he will end up with a ban as he has already been issued to warnings! So Don't Bully The Ref's!

Seven Goal Thriller At Stadium Of Light!
Wigan are winless in the last 6 games and needed 3points against Sunderland today to stop their fast slide to the bottom of the table! Sunderland are already in the relegation zone and under pressure Steve Bruce will be looking to his players to perform at their best to claim all three points today! This was set up to be a cracker.

wpid-Sunderland-vs-Wigan-Athletic.jpg

Sunderland 3 - 4 Wigan
Welbeck (69, 77) De Jong (72) - Neymar (16, 54, 61) Cleverley (82)
Wigan and Sunderland didn't fail to impress the 33280 spectators at the stadium of light this afternoon as they made a seven goal thriller which saw Wigan come out on top 4-3. Neymar opened the scoring after just 16minutes which lightened the game up! But this was all from the first half! Second half and Neymar was on a mission! He netted his second after 54 minutes and his hatrick after 61minutes! Wigan were 3-0 up! Welbeck and De Jong formed a come back for Sunderland as Welbeck struck twice and between it De Jong scored! The score was 3-3 with 12minutes to go! But yet more excitement as young substitute Tom Cleverley came off the bench to net a fantastic winner with 8minutes to go! Sunderlands hearts were broken! Wigan got their first win in the league in seven games!

(Neymar in action for Brazil, but delights Neville with sensational hatrick for Latics!)

Yes!!! What a win buddy, Neymar was an unbelievable signing and as soon as he well and truly sets in and develops your going to reap the benefits. :D

Classic Wigan defensive display though hahah!

Five Goal Game At DW Stadium!
After their seven goal thriller last weekend Neville would look for more of the same in the goals department! He wanted his top men to keep scoring but keeping the score down at the other end! Neville had said its fantastic playing those games but its important we don't concede too many in one go! Wigan looked for a second successiveness win this time over 20th place West Brom!

Wigan 4 - 1 West Brom
Neymar (6, 32) Rodallega (8) Donovan (17) - Odemwingie (69)
Wigan were awesome! Wigan had now scored 8 goals in there last 2 games! a fantastic record for them as they begin their fight back this season! After a difficult two months facing the top 6 teams Wigan now picked up some form as they scored four goals within 32minutes! Neymar got them off to a flyer in the 6th minute and their lead was doubled two minutes later after some 'shody' defending by Wigan Rodallega had the whole goal to himself! Donovan then popped up from a free kick to make it three before Neymar scored his second and his fifth in two games! the lad was looking like a sensational player! Odemwingie scored in the second half with 21minutes to go but West Brom were already down and out!

Landon_Donovan_1016695c.jpg

(Donovan rifles his free kick to the back of the net and celebrates by sitting at the corner flag!)

Your signings are really paying off, Neymar and Donovan are solid players!!
