Deserves a ban/fine. Players across the country get abuse from their own fans and opposition fans- If Rooney doesn't have the Mental Ability to cope with that, then he's picked the wrong job.

this is exactly ridiculous argument i'm talking about. no one deserves to abused, go tell that to obinna and piquionne who were racially abused by their own fans

From other forum.

I dont think profession has anything to do with how he reacts. He was abused for whole game, and also his family and wife. Anyone would have done the same. He didn't even abuse anyone.

No other players do it directly staring into the camera from 2 feet away, it's different when the direction is to the televised audience.
You'd have a point if the FA were banning him specifically for swearing into a camera but they aren't.
The FA are making an example of a high profile case but they'll continue to let lower profile cases slide. Which is why it's bullshit.
He's getting a 2 match ban. Thats the equivalent of a straight red card. When was the the last time you saw a player get a straight red for swearing?

John Terry arguably gets abused far worse than any other player in the league, maybe followed by Rooney and A.Cole. I don't see either of them swearing down a camera.

"Next time you score a hat trick Wayne, just take a gun and short a random supporter, no ban will follow"

lol

I have never seen Camera man running towards Terry to catch the reaction when he scores. Every player uses **** word. Many times it will be thrown at Ref. It was just that that camera man was so desperate to catch the reaction that he ran on to the pitch

But racial abuse is a totally different matter. At the end of the day, Rooney wasn't racially abused [Which no person across the world should have to put up with] It was just pantomine stuff, which players like Terry & Cole put up with every week, and when a player visits their former club etc.

What an idiot. Maybe the punishment is harsh, but why on earth would you walk right up to the camera and say the F word? For the people complaining about it and saying it happens all the time on the pitch, that's a completely different story. This wasn't on the pitch in the heat of the moment, he walked right up to the camera and said it so everyone in the world could see him. Even if the punishment was too harsh, I don't feel sorry for him at all, if you're stupid enough to do something like that you deserve a ban.

...it was in the heat of the moment, to a camera that had specifically moved when the pen was given because its generally the way rooney runs to...

Manchester United after being 2-0 down, staged a super comeback with one of the most inspiring performances from Rooney and Giggsy. But all the talking point was Rooney swearing and Vidic not getting red card.

Few incidents that didn't even get mentioned.
West ham got lucky penalty.. Second one.
Essien made a footed tackle which didn't even get yellow.
Rooney made a apology and was not mentioned anywhere.

Pathetic Media and FA.

I think the phrase "heat of the moment" was invented for moments like this. He had just completed a hattrick to complete an unlikely comeback away from home where he'd been getting abused all game.
I agree it was stupid but it clearly was in the heat of the moment.

He walked to the Camera? It was camera man who came running on the pitch to catch the reactions. All Rooney said was "What, ****, What".

There's a big difference between swearing with a camera in the vicinity and swearing RIGHT AT the camera, so give over with the "it's the cameraman's fault". He was doing his job, catching the action. Seeing a player's celebration is part of the enjoyment of watching football on TV, swearing at the camera is something, as far as I know, no other player has been stupid enough to do.

Well..it's sad to see players get abused. But they just have to cope with it. But racial abuse is not acceptable. But Rooney didn't exactly reduce his haters and abuse by cheating on his wife with an prostitute and playing **** in the world cup.

And elbowing and things like that. Pretty much same with Balo...they both get much attention for the wrong reasons. So they get abused more.

But i think Rooney deserves the ban...when you score a hattrick..why do you abuse someone and swear? It's the wrong way to celebrate.

And isn't current FA is headed by Ex ManCity player/official or someone who was associated with ManCity earlier?

West Ham lucky penalty? What about utd's penalty?
Essien's tackle was bad but it was a yellow everybody is making it out like he should get a 6 match ban! Watch it in real-time and you will realise it looks A LOT worse on the gif and the pictures.
So what if he made an apology? That's not the point and his apology was read out on MOTD and SSN so it was mentioned.

Good, he deserves it. I would say the same thing if anyone else did it.

Always blamed on the heat of the moment. A lot of players get caught up in the heat of the moment, but they don't all swear into cameras.

It's called being an arsehole, which Rooney specialises at.
