Transfers, August & September Update

Atletico mainly focused on youth in the transfer market. Following the 3 draft picks of Mkhitaryan, Rugani & Bellerin were the signings of Butland, Barbosa & Gourcuff. The second chance window saw Iglesias & Simeone sign some promising talent for the future.

Achraf Lazaar - 23 year old Moroccan international capable of playing anywhere on the left flank.

Kenny Tete - the 19 year old signed from Ajax is one for the future and was farmed out to Monaco

Dayot Upamecano - 16 year old centre back signed for his potential

The opening weekend of the inaugural Platinum League saw Atleti welcome Man Utd. An even game possession wise but only Utd's strikers brought their finishing boots, a disappointing 1-0 defeat.

Simeone was already feeling the pressure when Barcelona visited the Vicente Calderon and left with a 3-1 lead in The Cup 1st Round.

A late August run of 3 away games followed the Barca loss and Atletico finally sprung into life. A magnificent 3-1 win away at Arsenal in which new signing Gabriel Barbosa scored his first goal for the club. A 1-1 draw in the 2nd leg of The Cup 1st round saw Atleti crash out early but another great performance followed that in Milan - winning 3-0 in the San Siro.

September started with an away game in London and Atletico left with a point when they will feel they could, and should, have had all three. Barbosa and Saul gave Madrid a commanding lead only for Eden Hazard and Jack Wilshere save a point for Chelsea.

A 1-1 draw against a well strengthened Valencia team saw Luciano Vietto score his 7th goal in all competitions.

The final game in September saw Atleti welcome back striker Jackson Martinez to the Vicente Calderon. It didn't take the new Leverkusen marksman long to show Madrid fans what they were missing as he gave his new team a 1-0 lead in the 1st minute. The impressive duo of Vietto and Juanfran secured 3 points for Atleti and they finished the month in 3rd position.

New owner Enrique Iglesias has expressed his delight at the clubs current position in the Platinum League, his team lie in 3rd, despite the media prediction of 10th. A disappointing factor was the early exit in The Cup.

The first game of the season and new loan signing was on scoresheet. The match was very even, but the quality of Arturo Vidal decided it in Dortmund's favor.

Unexpected result. Again, a very open game with both the team having lots of chances. Neymar's injury meant we only had to deal with an unhappy Suarez and Messi. There is something not right with Barca squad now with rumblings of internal discontent and we took full advantage. New boy Lucas Moura scored too.

Got owned by City. Caught them on a rampaging form and we were nowhere near good enough. The gulf in quality showed. Things went from bad to worse when Imbula was sent off.

The Cup
A nice victory against Porto, with Imbula scoring the decider. The boy is already proving his worth.

All in all, a good victory over Barcelona keeps us out of relegation zone.

September Update - Inter Milan

The League

Inter 1 - 2 Arsenal

We dominated possession but they created the best chances. Petr Cech was in great form and Handanovic had a shocker. Disappointed with a draw here.

Inter 2 - 2 Real Madrid

Oh we got lucky to get a point from this game. We conceded 2 quality goals. 1 point from our last 2 home games. It needs improving.

PSG 2 - 1 Inter

PSG were the better team and it showed. Though a red card to Miranda did not help. We played with ten men for almost the entire game. To keep the scoreline at 2-1 was not bad.

Overall, Mauro Icardi is in good form and has scored in all league games in December. We need to keep it tight at the back though. We are in relegation zone as expected, but the performances have been okay. We are not too worried and are hopeful to get a few results in our favor in coming weeks. Juventus and Bayern are next. 3 points would be a great target. 2-3 points would be a happy October for us.

The Cup
We beat Trabzonspor 3-0 overall. Danilo Cataldi scored as well. Our new boys have gelled in very quickly and that is encouraging.

Let's not fool ourselves, it should not be a surprise for a Chelsea team to be starting off the season so well. The squad was strong already, it only took Yeezy a few finishing touches to deepen it.

With his extensive knowledge of soccer (he is an American after all, forgive him for using that word), he knew exactly who to buy. Internal staff reportedly quoted him looking through the scouts database shouting out "I want this *****, this ***** and that *****". And he got them.

When asked about Chelsea's chances to lift the league trophy this season, he said he "gotta have it".

Transfers

Unfortunately missed out on a couple of key targets at the start of the transfer window, but Yeezy is happy with what he got in the end. Quality players!

Some fantastic results for Yeezy so far this season. Great performance all round. The attacking outlay and the hunger for goals is extremely pleasing, Yeezy likes when his folks really go for it!
This was supplemented by a great set of victories against Everton in The Cup.

The only slight downside was a draw against Liverpool, but as Kanye says: "What doesn't kill you, makes you Stronger!"

Gonna steal the Arsenal style of updates as I like it, sorry grianaig

Transfer Summary and September/October Update

Liverpool FC welcomed Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Diego Godin and Juan Bernat in the draft, and Owner John Oliver also added 7 players during the transfer window. Mamadou Sakho was sacrificed to Real Madrid in exchange for 5m pounds and Casemiro, who adds strength to an area of the pitch where the Reds were vulnerable. Oliver described the defensive midfield position as critical to the success of the team. “The defensive midfielder of the team is like the **** of the body. It's nobody's favourite part, but you need that thing working properly or everything goes to sh*t real quick.”

Ludwig Augustinsson was added as the team was short of quality in the left back position, with only Juan Bernat available as a first team option. Jairo Riedewald was added as a left-footed centre back to replace the outgoing Sakho. Goncalo Guedes was added to strengthen the wide areas, though Markovic remains on loan. Lewis Cook and Ivaylo Chochev further strengthen the central midfield position, and Nelson Semedo provides competition for Clyne at right back.

Riedewald, Cook and Guedes have subsequently been loaned out by manager Jürgen Klopp, who also signed Bruno Gomes and Carlos Martinez, with the former also leaving on a temporary basis.

Unfortunately, the team hasn’t got off to the start that Oliver would have liked. With a solitary win and 3 draws in 6 matches so far, the Reds sit just outside the relegation zone, but only on goal difference. They have, however, secured progression to the third round of the Cup. Star player Phillipe Coutinho has been out injured and hasn’t made an appearance yet, so his return in two or three weeks time is keenly anticipated.

The most recent result, where they became the first team to lose to expected title contenders Barcelona, cut short what appeared to be an improvement in form. Mr Oliver says that “At this point, we aren’t just flirting with relegation, we’re rounding third base and asking if relegation has any condoms.”

Hopefully things can improve quickly for the mighty Reds!

The schedule doesn’t get any easier, with tough fixtures against Man Sh*tty and Real Madrid to come in October. P$G are first off the bat in November too. Jürgen Klopp has a real challenge on his hands!

Juventus storm away at the front of the pack with Atletico and PSG snapping at their heels, Barcelona and United pick up some points but still find themselves firmly in the relegation dogfight. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are doing a fine job in representing England while Milan are also looking good. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that Barcelona, Bayern, United, Dortmund and Man City would all be in the bottom half of the table!

Btw, in terms of finances. I'm not sure the financial model of the league is sound enough to secure team's finances. There are several teams that had decent balances in August that now are deep in the red. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Well, at least we're out of the relegation zone.

How the **** are Barcelona struggling so badly?
