Another UCL Final looks good. However we we almost blew a 4-0 first leg lead against Real Madrid in the Quarters. 4-0 at OT soon became 4-0 in Spain only for Peter Ledsham to ****** a vital away good in the 90th minute.

I'm only at Scotland to nuture Sam's international career so this is devastating news for me but not the nation as there are many better options available.

He is due back for the final group game and knockout stages should we get there..

Wow. A flawless start and yet to concede a single goal. Sam returned for the Ireland game but because we had already qualified I didn't risk him in case he got another injury.

Sam returns with a goal in a comfortable win against the Swiss. Hat-trick hero Craig Jones is also on our books but has spent most of his time out on loan, chiefly at feeder club Mainz.

Sadly the pre-tournament injury to Sam limits him to just two appearances at the WC and the single goal.

With the new Sir Alex Ferguson Park taking 3 years to build I have resigned from Scotland to speed up the season as I will now holiday during the international breaks.

With my retirement from international football it is almost certain that Sam Ferguson will no longer be involved in the national team, excluding the worst of injury crises. He would struggle to get in to a top half Championship team to be honest.​

A phenomenal record beginning all the way back at lowly East Stirlingshire.

29 leagues, over 100 Cups and over £90m earned in wages.

Time to retire?? No chance.

The real Fergie managed for 2155 games. I will surely beat that soon. When the new stadium is built I'll have been in charge for just over 19 years and that is still some way off Fergie's 27 years at Old Trafford. I would like to beat that before retiring (moving on to a new challenge).

The new stadium and seeing Sam Ferguson finish his career at the SAF Park should keep me motivated. Sam is 22 now so at least 10 more seasons yet and that should bring me to around Fergie's 27 years in charge.

The first time he scored 4 goals in a match, in the World Club Cup Final no less.
