BT Sport Journalist: Southampton F.C have signed former Tottenham and Cardiff Citycentre back Steven Caulker for 8M pounds. It is believed Cardiff City had accepted bids from had Q.P.R and Southampton for Caulker, with Southampton eventually winning the battle for his signature after days of negotiations. Caulkeris now the third central defender Southampton have signed his summer, following John Stones, and Joleon Lescott. At this stage, it is anyone’s guess which partnership Southgate will opt for in their first match of the season at home against Newcastle, with the decision most likely to be based on their pre-season performances.

Chelsea Legend Makes Unexpected Move

66 games short of Gigg's record, can Lampard overtake the Welshman?

green_arrow_64368.png
713.png

Goal Journalist: Chelsea and England icon, Frank Lampard, has joined Southampton F.C on a free deal upon his return home from the World Cup. Lampard was widely expected to move to newly formed MLS side New York City F.C to finish his career, but has instead chosen to continue at the highest level, and continue to add to his Premier League appearances, of which he has the second-most behind Ryan Giggs. The 36 year old will no doubt be a key player in Gareth Southgate’s midfield, providing goals, assists, and more than anything, experience to a young central midfield. Having announced his international retirement on 106 caps 4 days ago,Lampard is now solely focused on maintaining his form for his new club. Lampard spoke at the clubs official announcement at Saint Mary’s:

“I am thrilled to be here. I was offered numerous oversea offer for large amounts of money, but when the manager asked me if I would be interested in playing for another Premier League club and pushing for European football, I couldn’t resist. I know I’m not as quick as I used to be, but I truly feel like I still have a lot to offer, and I’m glad Gareth (Southgate) saw that in me. I knew I wanted a different challenge, and helping get Southampton into European football is now that challenge.” – Frank Lampard

Germany Win World Cup!

The instant hero: Götze scores winner in 113th minute

Sky Sports Journalist: Germany are champions of the world for the fourth time after narrowly beatingArgentina 1-0 in the Maracanã in extra time. A 113th minute goal from superstar attacking midfielder Mario Götze off of an André Schürrle cross was enough to see Die Mannschaft clinch victory. In a close and exciting match, in which both team managed 10 shots,Germany had the edge in the majority of the match by more than tripling the number of shots on target, and winning the battle for possession by 60% to Argentina’s 40%.

Messi had a final minute free-kick to score an equaliser, but disappointingly blazed the ball over the crossbar, proving it wasn't going to be his night

German captain Philipp Lahm holds the trophy aloft with his team-mates

The decision taken by the German F.A and manager Joachim Löw in South Africafour years ago to take a young squad and prepare them for Brazil proved genius, perhaps paving the way for future nations. Few to argue the German’s did not deserve the crown, having beaten the likes of Portugal 4-0, France 1-0, and embarrassing Brazil in the semi-final 7-1.

Dremmler (left) and Elgert (right)

“The young players currently in our (FC Bayern) youth teams, from the Under 15’s all the way down are without a doubt the best that I have ever seen in my 18 years at the club. With this wave of supreme talent coming through, there’s no reason why we cannot do what was done at Barca under Guardiola here in Bavaria.” – Wolfgang Dremmler, FC Bayern Head of Youth Development.

Global superstars Lahm, Schweinsteiger, and Müller are all produces of FC Bayern

“We’ve had the likes of Neuer, Özil, Draxler, and Meyer come through the club in recent years, looking through the youth teams, I’d say the next generation of our players is as good, if not better than I have ever seen. I dare say that with these players, as well as the others coming through at the top German clubs will ensure Die Mannschaft will dominate world football for decades to come.” - Norbert Elgert, FC Schalke Under 19’s Manager

Author's Note
Germany's youth rating has been raised from 160 to 164, the highest in the game.

Love following this great story line pal hope all goes well when league starts

Southampton Keep Chambers

Southampton's gem of 2013/14: Chambers was given his début and never looked back

The Guardian Journalist: Southampton F.C teenage right back, Calum Chambers has signed a new 4 year contract with Southampton F.C this-morning. The deal comes after Arsenal revealed their interest in signing the 19 year old yesterday. A product of the Saint’s academy, Chambers broke into the first team last season, battling Nathaniel Clyne for starting roles. With the ability to play at both right back and centre back, Chambers could become a vital player for Southampton over the coming seasons.

Poyet could be an interesting one, he became a Spanish international in my game. Will you sell once he chooses which country to play for?

Metro Journalist: Croatian centre back, Dejan Lovren has joined Liverpool F.C on a 5 year deal after Southampton and Liverpool agreed on a price tag of 20M pounds. The deal makes Lovren the most expensive defender in Liverpool’s history, surpassing Mamadou Sakhoby 1.5M pounds. Reportedly, Brendan Rodgers has been pursuing the 25 year old all summer.

“After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: ‘One day I hope I'll be able to play here for Liverpool’. The fans will know from the first minute that I'm a player that will give 100 per cent on the pitch. It’s a dream come true.” – Dejan Lovren

Southampton Announce Two Arrivals

Can Bertrand secure a long term contract and finally settle into a team?

713.png

BBC Sport Journalist: Ryan Bertrand has joined Southampton on a season long loan from Chelsea. It is believed the deal could become permanent for a fee in the region of 8-10M pounds. The 25 year old left back is no stranger to being loaned out, having previously been at six clubs on loan before joining Southampton. The arrival of Bertrand will no doubt keep Luke Shaw on his toes to ensure he maintains last seasons form.

Dier will call England home, again

Eric Dier also joins the club, making a return to the country of his birth. The 20 year old defender who can play at right and centre back arrives for a fee of 4M pounds from Sporting F.C of Portugal. Several sources stated sighting of the player at Heathrow Airport, as well as in North London, prompting speculation Tottenham were on the verge of signing Dier.

I love this so much and you havent played a game! Imagine if you went through all this effort and then when you started playing you got sacked early on though, that would be horrible! You won't though, but just imagine! hahaha, keep it up man :)

Just wondering, who's the Sky Sports presenter in your first post? o:

Poyet could be an interesting one, he became a Spanish international in my game. Will you sell once he chooses which country to play for?

Tables would flip and heads would roll! It's a real possibility given the serious lack of cohesion, fingers crossed for some goals in the first few months.

'The Great Wall' joins Southampton

ESPN Journalist: England’s second safest pair of hands has joined Southampton for 10M pounds from Celtic. Fraser Forster has agreed to a 4 year deal on the South Coast to be their number one. The six-foot-seven shot stopper made a number for himself in the Champions League against Barcelona after an incredible performance in November of 2012, which resulted in the Spanish media giving him the nickname ‘La Gran Muralla’ - The Great Wall and Spanish maestro, Xavi, describing him as ‘world class.’

Zaha Joins on Loan

The forgotten man: Zaha only made 2 EPL appearances for United

680.png
green_arrow_64368.png
713.png

FourFourTwo Journalist: Livewire winger, Wilfried Zaha has joined Southampton on loan from Manchester United. The player’s wages will be covered in full by Southampton, no loan fee was enforced, and Southampton have the option to buy him outright for a fee of 7.5M pounds should they so wish. With Lallanaand Rodriguez set to miss the start of the season through injury, it seems likely the young pairing of Zaha and fellow new arrival, Tom Ince will start on the wings on August the 16th. Now with two players on loan, Southampton are unable to register any more loaned players for the forthcoming Premier League season due to the leagues regulations.

2 Number 1’s?

Butland will have to beat Forster if he hopes to achieve another international cap

713.png

Sky Sports Journalist: 21 year old goalkeeper Jack Butland is the latest player to join Southampton today, after signing a 3 year deal with the club for 7.5M pounds from Stoke. The deal comes just days after the announcement of the signing of Fraser Forster to the club, whom Butland is expected to deputise for. The singularly capped keeper will hope his move to Southampton will be more successful than his move to Stoke in 2012, where he only made 3 Primer League appearances before being loaned to Barnsley and Leeds.
