Not bad results for pre-season.
I guess it was mainly about getting the team to gel anyway.
Cant wait for the season to start.

Pretty poor results IMO to be honest, but as you say, there was a LOT of familiarisation and cohesion to be built.

Literally can't wait for the season to start!

Great! I'll be kicking off my first EPL game today! Looking forward to it!

Southampton Set to Blow Transfer Budget

Gareth+Southgate+England+U21+Training+Session+4BSXAKfArhBl.jpg

Southgate and Branson agree on prized target

Goal Journalist: Gareth Southgate has today announced their intention to “blow their transfer budget and blow the transfer market wide open.” He made this announcement on behalf of the club:

“Due to our new sponsorship deals, the board have given me a massive sum of money to spend on one last player this summer. Sir Richard gave me the news by phone call yesterday afternoon where he said that ‘we’ve reworked our finances and have decided it’s better to use all the money we have available to bring in one last big player that we like the look of who can win us points on his own, rather than having that money sit in reserve.’ He and I have spoken at length about several big name players, and we agree that there’s only one name on our radar. This deal will be so important that we expect it to blow this transfer window wide open, and show the world our intentions at this club.” Gareth Southgate

Dani Osvaldo Finally Departs

Osvaldo returns to Italy

Sun Journalist: Italian striker (and amateur Johnny Depp lookalike), Pablo Dani Osvaldo has finally parted ways with Southampton, joining Inter Milan on a season long loan. The player failed to attract any transfer bids sizeable enough for Southampton to agree to. Subsequently, he has been loaned out due to the clubs rule of not fielding foreign players at any level. Osvaldo certainly has talent, but the lack of interest could possibly be due to him never being far from controversy. Last season, he was loaned to Juventus after instigating a training ground fight with José Fonte.

Transfer Records Smashed

A young man now with the weight of the world on his shoulders

Guardian Journalist: After failing to agree terms on his Liverpool contract, Southampton have unveiled England wonderkid Raheem Sterling as their final signing of the summer for a massive fee which could eventually rise to 50M pounds after add-ons. Transfer records have tumbled as a result of the deal; Sterling is now Southampton’s most expensive player, surpassing Saido Berahino by 34M, the most expensive teenager ever, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s move to United by 24M, and the most expensive English player in history, surpassing Andy Carroll’s move to Liverpool by 15M. The exact figures of the deal have not been disclosed, however, it is believed Liverpool received 35M up-front for the deal, which is likely to be invested into the first team squad in the last 10 days of the window, on top of whatever is left over from the sale of Luis Suárez to Barcelona for 75M pounds. Rumours suggest Sterling could be earning a wage in the region of 100K per week at the club, with a sizeable bonus should the team qualify for the Champions League. For such a large fee, Southampton will pray the investment pays off and Sterling fulfils his world class potential.

Not a bad start to the season, hopefully your team will only get stronger as they gel together.
Any chance we can see an overview of all transfers in/out?

First Casualty

The roller-coaster: Pardew who won the Manager of the Year award in 11/12, now finds himself unemployed

BT Sport Journalist: Alan Pardew has become the first Premiership manager to lose his job. With only 7 games played, Newcastle United currently sit in 19th place on 5 points after defeats to Southampton, Manchester City, Villa, and Spurs. Controversial owner Mike Ashley is believed to be looking at several managers to takeover, with bookies favouring Steve Bruce, Sam Allardyce, and Tony Pullis. A record 10 managerial changes occurred last season, the first being Paolo Di Canio before October, will we see a similar trend this season?
