Szolnoki MÁV FC: From Rags To Riches

Good money for Novothny, and you can have him till the end of the season!

Just read from start to finish mate, really good going so far!

Love the fact you've got a youth player from Inter Turku haha

You seem to have some really good regens already and a lot of them seem to have decent determination and so should improve pretty quickly. You should have a really strong squad for the league in a couple of seasons! Maybe I should start going through youth intakes of foreign teams on my save, don't know if I have the patience for it though!

Keep up the good work mate, it'll not be long before you're smashing up the Champions League!

Cheers mate, means a lot as I've been following your FC Inter Turku story for a while!

In terms of going through youth intake it is a bore but there is a certain way to tackle it. For example, there's no way I can afford any Central European intake players as they're always way over priced and never want to join me so I avoid march. I always look for the Scandinavian regens as they're dirt cheap and you can pry them away quite easily with key player contracts at max wage or yearly wage rises. If you want some steals of regens look in youth intake for September all the way through to January as they're often cheap and some you can get for small compensations. You may get lucky looking through youth departures of clubs like PSG and Barcelona.

Thanks for following :)

Hungary Update

View attachment 362983

I think this shows that we're on the rise as a nation. My main aim as a club is to have a major part of my youth be the youth of the international team but at the moment we only have 3 U19s and 2 U21s. I have no doubt in my mind though that if Bence Kiss wasn't injured he would be in the squad. I am quite excited for the future of Hungary. I am hoping to get a national job ASAP. This looks possible as the U21s just failed to qualify for their Euro's despite Novothny's best efforts.

---

Bence Kiss is a player who's been sneaking into my U21 squad this season and his performances have caught my eye. He's scored 7 times and assisted 3 goals from the right flank in 10 games this season.

View attachment 362976

He is also developing rapidly as he's been tutored by our best winger Shmeltz. Also the fact I completely revamped the coaches in the U21s has led me to believe my players are now developing quicker. He is one to watch, definitely.

October 2015

View attachment 362932

A pretty good month this month. The 6-1 win annoyed me as I was trying to lose so that I wouldn't have fixture congestion for the rest of the season by progressing but my youth and back-ups were superb and fully deserve to get more playing time in more cup matches! We should've beaten Debrecen by atleast 3 goals but their 'keeper was in fine form and Novothny was god awful.

View attachment 362929

We're exactly where we want to be, anywhere inside the top 4 will be seen as a huge success this season. Debrecen being out of form has helped us a lot as we have more room to breathe.

---

I have signed possibly the best Norwegian regen I've ever seen who could actually replace Novothny as soon as he gets to the club! I'm sure everyone would agree, he's a beast.

Signed for £190k from Valarenga.

November 2015

View attachment 362861

This month looks pretty bad at first glance but it really wasn't. The two cup losses were simply because I'd already qualified past the group stage and played an entire youth team and oldies. The draws weren't against bad teams, the win was a great away win and the loss was in the league at the start of the month was expected. I'm just glad it's the winter break now where our new signings will come in and hopefully give us the push into comfortable European places.

View attachment 362859

We're very much so in a battle for that fourth and final European qualification spot!

---

News wise we gained another parent club. This time the reputable Rubin who will pay us quite a hefty amount. All our parent clubs together now puss us around the £100k mark.

View attachment 362858

Another signing! This time from our parent club Sparta Prague for a staggering £500k! I think it's worth it though if you look at those attributes plus he's got big potential. I hope he can lead us to big things along with Robin Risa coming in too. Youth is the way forward! Plus shortly after the winter break it's the youth intake which could be better than last years as we now have 'Good' rated junior coaching and improved youth recruitment since last time however that's still rated as fairly basic.

You may just be the best FM player i've seen in a long time. those regens look insane! :D

Very good read mate, Like the look of Bence Kiss and its always worth selling some of your youth intake players as you will never turn all of them into first teamers, On my Limerick save i managed to sell at least 3 players for big money and then sign them back on free transfers a few years later. KIU

Think you made a good decision selling! That offer was too good to turn down. Inspired to start my own 'Rags to Riches' story. Any reason why you picked Szolnoki or Hungary as a league?

cheers man, I probably will sell most of them unless they have 4 and a half star potential as I'd like to keep them.

I don't really know mate! I wanted to do a Eastern European story and Hungary caught my eye as a good country. Szolnoki was because they had the worst facilities in the second division! If it wasn't Hungary, I would've done Austria.

Who are you playing as mate?

Ah right, fair enough, certainly something different and a challenge with those facilities! I like Austria, did a save with Austria Wien on FM13 which was fun.

Haven't started one as yet.. but definitely thinking of doing something like this. Maybe Romania! Keep it up btw, loving the story :)

Will you be posting it on here? If so I will definitely follow mate! Romania looked interesting, when i was choosing this save I looked at Austria, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. I believe the Romanian Premier is actually the 'biggest' league out of all of them so that would be fun!

Feel free to private message me about teams and stuff as I would love to help!

Cheers mate, next update should be soon. Haven't had a chance to play today...

Want to try something similar but have little knowledge of Eastern European football, any recommendations? Keep up the good work also

I still know absolutely nothing about Eastern European football! haha

I can't really help with recommendations as I've only know the slightest things about Hungary.

Slovenia looked interesting when I was looking at that?

Winter Break 2015/16

View attachment 362554

Nothing to say here really, glad all 3 new strikers managed to get a goal at some point.

---

Our busiest transfer window yet! Using the money funded by the Novothny sale and the slightly wealthier Chairman we were aggressive in our pursuit of players

First we have Risa. A very young prospect who could either develop big and become a monster or sightly develop and be a role player off the bench. £185k from Valarenga.

View attachment 362552

Next is Hussein who is our fastest player I believe. Bought on the cheap from FC Inter Turku and he could be our cup games striker. He will be going out on loan ASAP next season as I would prefer Risa to play the cup games. £180k from FC Inter Turku.

View attachment 362551

Matousek is up now and he is an absolute player. He looks like a steal and he could be at the club for years to come. £500k from Sparta Prague.

View attachment 362550

This signing I rushed into as I desperately need a backup CB and a starting LB and I might of found both as Ricardo can play both positions. He looks good but won't have that starting LB spot for too long as Caceres comes in the season after next but this is where I'm hoping he'll be able to transmit into a full-time CB. He just needs to improve his jumping reach. £625k from FC Porto.

View attachment 362549

Here's the star of the show now. An absolute beast of a player at 17 years of age, who's better than Novothny. We managed to barter a bit and get his price down from £1.5mil. He could play for a Premier League club in my opinion and he looks to be a great buy! £950k from Sparta Prague.

Here are the outs.

View attachment 362547

It was a shame that Tozser left as he looked a good prospect but that offer was so good for him as he was pretty low down on the development cycle. Bence Kiss was my priority going into the window as I wanted him to get some loan time and we got a great suitor in Honvéd. They're in Division II and their facilities are far superior to ours so hopefully he can develop! Erdélyi is another prospect who's also gone on loan to a team in the Division II. Chapman was dead weight and almost every game he would make a massive mistake, I was fed up and sold him on the cheap, good luck to Pápa is what I say... Salamon was our reserve CB so I let him go for free to save some wage.

---

For people wondering how I got the regens, don't believe your scouting reports. For all these players my scouts said they all had 'no intention of joining the club at this time' yet my offers got accepted and I was given a chance to offer them a good deal to get them interested. It's just worth a shot sometimes. :)

Youth Intake 2016

Another pretty great youth intake! 3 years in a row, we've consistently brought in great young players with big potential. If this is what the youth intakes are like with fairly basic recruitment and average junior coaching, imagine what it'll be like when they're fully upgraded!!

View attachment 362532

Not as good as last years, but definitely alot of potential in there.

Obviously two players caught my eye. Lazár and Hegedus.

View attachment 362531

He's very good physically and 10 passing is good for a 15 year old. He needs improvement to virtually every mental stat though.

View attachment 362530

Possibly the best player we've produced. A natural finished with a bit of pace and flair. He's 5"7' though meaning he's not exactly built for the lone striker role I play... we'll see.

---

For all those interested here's how they did against my current U21s

View attachment 362529

A fairly decent win for the intake, but I'm bit disappointed in my U21s in this game. My U21s sit in 8th in Group 1.

****, guess I'll give Slovenia a try
