What happened to this formation TBH ? I've been dying to see your set up for ages now. Anything in the pipeline ?
 
I play Vfl Bochum and I'm in my 6th season with them and I can't find a tactic that would see my team finish in the top half of the Bundesliga table. I struggle to beat mid table teams like Koln, Mainz and Hertha and the top ones like Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen? Forget about it, I barely score 1 goal against them. I tried playing different tactics, none got me higher than 12th place and some even worse took me to the relegation playoff.

Help a noob manager as I've tried countless versions of tactics and none seem to fit my team.

I own a crapload of wingers and various skilled CM's + 6 strikers (3 natural ST's and 3 AM that can play as ST) but either I made the wrong transfers, either the tactics fail to make 'em score.

I wait for your answer, thank you in advance.

I am having some problems with it. In short, the more attacking version needs to be played on the counter but as I dont want to tweak this- wanting to use the TC settings-, I am trying to find à different approach.

The middle team and underdog are no problems at all, neither is creating à true and puré Chelsea 41221 ala Mourinho but that was not the idea.

How do you change your tactics to classic mode? That is what some of your tactics are in, isn't it? Either that or I don't recognise half of the images.

all the latest ones are TC, unless specifically mentioned
 
Please help, dont know whats wrong with my tactic. Currently managed BORO and in 2nd season. In npower Champ this tactic is quite wonderful with overall possession in almost all game 58%, pass acc 82++%, shot OT 8++ (even vs big team, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham). Manage to win the champ, semi in League Cup, quarter in FA cup.
Now in 2nd season in BPL and still manage to have quite decent possession and pass acc 75% and above. The problem is how come even when i'm the one with better possession, better pass acc but opponent have more shot than me? Even team that were promoted such as West Ham, Burnley are winning easily even when i'm dominating the game..:@

And also notice that most goal conceded are from through ball through both my fullback. And any idea how to stop fullback and central defend which keep passing the ball to each other even when there's empty midfield player up ahead which mostly result the ball lose to opponent frequently?

ABOUT THE PLAYERS

The strength of your team lies in the central midfield. Players like Ekdal, Paulinho, Horava along with Bannan and in some degree Gibson means that we should play with 3 central Midfielders. Up front, I would use wingers and one FC (your choice but use the one that is most complete and with pace)

Your fullbacks are a problem. Although Saso might look like a wonderkid, he is poor at dribbling and crossing. He is young so you might need to give him 2 or 3 years before he can actually perform like you expect him to, Nico Schultz is also a player that is just too attacking as he likes to get forward at all times ( not much to do unless you can unlearn one of his ppms)


ABOUT THE TACTIC

So my suggestion would be the following:

  • Play probing and patient football. Never mind that you get too few shots ON goal if it means you win 1-0. Grind out some results and play boring, keeping possession, and passing to feet and not into space.

  • If the opponent pushes forward and you see an area to exploit, then just do it!. Play Counter, get the ball forward, play narrow but still exploit the flanks, pass the ball into space.


  • When feeling like defending, then simply play the patient approach but this time, using the counter strategy


  • When wanting or needing to attack, I would change the strategy to attack, using overlaps, exploiting the flanks, pushing up and hassle the opponent.

As for changing the roles, there is no real need to; You could us the same roles and duties no matter playing cautious or attacking

So, the main approach would be the following

Its really hard to say where you go wrong without knowing what you are doing. Are you using a plug & play tactic or using the TC, shouting form the sideline ?. If you upload the tactic, I can have a look at it.

Apart from that, have much changed since last season. Many new players, released some players, new captain, new assistant manager etc ?
