***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Thank you. Guess I need to make new shouts.

My point here is that as soon as you get a really good team, you can play more expressive in terms of movement, t-balls creative freedom etc. BUt for now, I think you only need these 3 appraoches and they should see you get a CL spot

Well, if you are sitting top of the table, it would be foolish to change approach :D In the future, it might be a different story though. Just try signing players with good team work, stamina, determination, work rate and then some pace up front and it will get you to the CCC. After that, you need some more specific competence and pay more attention to tactics

Yes, you will get a dip as your players are **** :D I would not panic though, just play through it and try raising the morale and build up the players confidence if they start to loose it

As for the meetings, I always listen to what he says, mostly because I always get reminded of something that I intended to do but forgot. ( he is only recommending things though so dont do everything he says, like learning all th player ssome new ppms :D )

What happened to this formation TBH ? I've been dying to see your set up for ages now. Anything in the pipeline ?

Finally got the Chelsea Wide 41221 correct.:D
Now it looks like a tactic for a top team, not just for a physical team. Will probably have the time for the writeup tomorrow

Its really hard to say where you go wrong without knowing what you are doing. Are you using a plug & play tactic or using the TC, shouting form the sideline ?. If you upload the tactic, I can have a look at it.

Apart from that, have much changed since last season. Many new players, released some players, new captain, new assistant manager etc ?

Nothing change much, basically its still the same tactic. I take the base of Koflok's Goal Galore tactic and made quite a bit changes to suite my team. And I've never use opposition instruction. And rarely using touchline instruction except when there's trouble in gameplay.
Squad and staff still the same. The only new player in main squad is Steven Fletcher, others are just young potential.

Here's the tactic - 4-2-3-1 Total Possession.tac

please make another plug and play tactic TBH !!!!

Sorry, I dont think I Will be making any more plug&play. I just dont enjoy trying to find exploits to beat/cheat the game. I will be making more " easy use" TC tactics though and most of them can be used as p&p, but not with the aim to exploit.

Would also love to see TC tactics that can be used as plug and play or by just changing strategy for each match because I want to create some myself but just cannot for the life of me figure out a balance of player roles/duties and team instructions.

How do you do it TBH? Based on experience with FM or do you read about different formations/tactics online?

Also, I wanted to ask, if I used the team instructions and players duties combinations from your FM11 or FM10 TC tactics but obviously without tweaking each player's PI's like you did, do you think it would work?

For example:

If I used the duties and team instructions shown here:

http://thebetterhalf.freeforums.org/fm10-the-better-half-plug-shout-tactics-t7.html

Then changed the strategy based on different situations, do you think it would work well?

Using the auto define roles and duties, you can usually get a good tactic. Look at what your best players have as their best roles and duties. Look on this site as well Guide to Football Manager 2012

Yeah, I've tried that. My problem is with the lone-striker tactics. The TC always makes the lone striker a DLF - Support which does not suit some of my strikers and I do not want to change it because I assume that the rest of the team is setup so that the striker drops deeper.

Not sure what you man by " the TC always makes" part. Surely, this is for you to decide . Naturally, some formations is bettet used with à deep dropping one, just like some approaches within formations are.

I mean that I am not sure which roles+duties and team instructions to choose to make a decent, effective tactic so havanaclue suggested using what the Auto assign roles and duties that the TC gives but the TC always has a lone striker as a DLF whereas I would prefer a striker that stays up top and scores more goals. I do not want to change the DLF to an AF though because I assume that the rest of the team is setup for the striker to drop deep and I do not want to mess with it.

My problem is that any changes I make away from the TC defaults are due to guesswork because I do not understand some of the mechanics that goes into creating a well-balanced tactic and what effect any change will have. :/

You must also look at what your team has, if you look around the site there are plenty of one striker tactics with advanced st or even a poacher. I have a Adv st in a tactic I'm trying to develop and I'm unbeaten in 15 games. If you are tactically unversed (as I am) then you can try for ages and maybe get lucky with a tactic (and still don't know how it works) or you can just download a tactic and take the challenge of buying in the right players for the side.

Yeah, that is why I keep going back to downloaded tactics. I could not have said it more perfectly, tactically unversed is exactly what I am :)

Every tactical change I make is due to guesswork or because I read about it online and I am not sure if it does what it is supposed to have done.

Anyway, I guess it is back to a downloaded tactic for me and maybe looking for other challenges such as buying the right players.

Cheers

Hey all whats the best shouts to use when your winning nearing the end of the game?

Retain possession, pass to feet, play through defence. It makes the team keep the ball, lesser t-balls and dribbling, playing tighter

cheers mate your a legend :) one more question ? when i have players on non contract or part time whats the best way to train them ?

Well, that would depend on the player so not really sure what you mean.
