***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Ah I see. Yeah didn't think of that! My bad!

Just so I make sure I'm using the right players and having read your OP I'm pretty confident I already have the basis for the correct team.....

If you were to attach a name to each midfielder would it be as follows:

CML: Box to Box midfielder? Advanced playmaker Attack/Support? Central Midfielder Attack/Support?

CMR: Ball Winning midfielder Support/Defend? Deep lying playmaker Support/Defend? Central Mid Support/Defend

DMC: Def Mid Support/Defend? Anchor Man?

The only reason why I ask is that I'm not so good at reading into the player instructions......I know most downloadable tactics on here, despite using modern tactic creator, tweak individual settings anyway so it doesn't matter what the player role shows up as.

Sorry if I'm asking you to be too specific....I just want to make sure I know the correct training schedules to put players on and also what position specific players to buy.

Hope you can help!

MCright = Central Mid/SUPPORT...An allround Mc with good passing
MCleft = Box2box/Advanced PLaymaker. A player with good decision, creativity and off the ball
DMC = Defensive mid/defend/support. Strong, good in defending

WIDGETS
During a game, I always use these Widgets. By having RADAR open at all times, I can easily spot the shape of both teams. I see if they make runs AHEAD of the ball ( Counter attacks or really attacking mentality, if there players sit really deep and dont attack, if their forwards moves into channels, if they use the width etc but most of all, I can notice changes in their approach
The other Widgets is something I use to see under what circumstances the teams play the way they d. Like the opponents FORMATION, if I see a change in their approach, is it because they have changed formation. Like in the MOTIVATION, are they loosing their defensive shape because they are complacent, really tired or are they perhaps wining all the tackles because they are fired up and the same goes for our team.

When analyzing the match ( during it), this is a great tool when wanting to know under what circumstances what happened. Its easy to think that your ingame change to "Version X" that made you score 3 goals was doen to the tactical chnage when it might have been because that the opponent had given up whilst all your players where fired-up

Playing with 10 men

In the 32nd minute, we got a DC send off ( highly incorrectly I might add). As we where already 2 goals up, I decided to switch from the ATTACKING POSSESSION into the CAUTIOUS POSSESSION, using this formation subbing one of the wingers and bringing on a new DC

FACING ADVANCED WINGERS

Here we have a game that whilst in paper being an easy one, its one that could turn out nasty. As they play a 4222 formation, its rather risky playing with advanced wingbacks. I started the game with ATTACKING POSSESSION and here, the WINGBACKS push forward and join the attacks, making overlaps with the wingers. If we loose the ball, the opponent have a great opportunity to hit us on the break. If on the other hand we sit too deep, they will be able to retain possession, dragging our players on to them before launching an attack.

After we scored 1-0, I chose to play a quicker and more direct approach to make sure that we instead tried to hit them on the break, focusing on making the attacks swift so that the wingbacks or fullbacks where unable to join them. COUNTER or OVERLOAD, its your choice. Here, i chose Overload but if i had been playing away, i would probably have gone with COUNTER

holy cow man nice going

Thanks. The OP has also been updated with more results with lesser teams like Oldham and Barnet. I play 1/4 of a season with lots of teams and try different approaches when using the set. With some teams, I use the more direct counter approach ( Overload and Counter) and in some, I use the Possession versions ( Attack and Cautious)

Looks good. Just remember that when being used of the 4123 exploit, there might be agony when you dont get results instantly. With MAN UTD, it should be pretty easy as long as you manage to motivate the squad and you rotate the squad. I have used this with Man U for about 12 matches and it was really easy. I am yet to test it in Italy though :DCurrently, I am using an updated versin of all versions but CAUTIOUS. The problem is though, that I cant use the "advanced mode" when editing the Opening Post( read: the attachments) as everything in the post goes havoc

EDIT; They are now found in the OP, at the bottom

Suggestions ( Summer update for highest league only) ?

The Strong FC versus the Exploiting quick Poacher

In this version of the game, we all know that using quick poachers is just a little slightly abusive to the match engine, regardless of tactical approach. When using this Set, you can actually use a Strong FC that plays with the back towards the goal. One of my favourite players is Chamakh of Arsenal. When reading about users telling us they always sell him, I get a bit confused as he is one of the best subs (or starters) there is for the Gunners. He plays with the back towards goal, he play one-twos and he has good first touch and decision. In the POSSESSION versions and the OVERLOAD, he has been really good as a sub. Although not having used him much( due to a injurie), he has a really good average rating in the matches he has played

A great thread you've got here and one that answers a lingering question I had about how to read what you see and react...I'm a commentary only man with the stats screen in front of me so next season I'll actually play the game properly!

One question.....opposition instructions.....do you use them?

i get that mate its more fun to see your team trying to make a tac work for have a few bad games then you find some form and it all starts to clik thats what i want would be beter if i could make a tac but im hopeless at it i bet thats a lot of fun allso do you use 1 tac for home games and 1 for away or just use the 1 that will beat the team that put in front of you

Actually, I only use them when I play the game in full match or Extended hightlights in a slow "tempo". Then, when I micro manage, I take actions accordingly to the match plan. If I feel that I benefit from putting my Fbs OUTSIDE of their wingers and show them inside onto my 2 DMCs, then I will. If I feel that closing down and tackle their singel FC target man hard will make them unable to gain possession in advanced positions, then I will. If they have a player that has really low concentration and poor first touch, then I close him down/Always etc etc.

But in these saves, with this set, I am yet to use them

Basically, I make an evalutation of the team and see its a team that benefits form a direct approach ( Counter and Overload) or a slower possession approach ( Attack and Cautious). After that, I make a decision pregame what version to starts with. In most saves, its rather easy to say but if playing with a team like Everton that is something inbetween then its harder.

The main point though is to understand what each and every version actyually does. What the difference between Attacking possession and Counter etc. For me, its uncredibly easy as I have made the set :D

Oh, I forgot

Please rate the thread ! Does it matter?, Well not really but its fun having 5 stars.
