***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Does this formation suit a poor team or an underdog ?

Actually, this is more likely to suit better teams as the formation is a rather attacking one by default. Mind you, its all about having enough complete players in the trasition phase. If you are playing with an underdog but have hardworking wingers, AMCs and wide defenders, it works.
When I created this formation though, I actually had Man City and Chelsea in mind as it lets you play most of their attacking players in the correct positions

Is it possible te leave training and match preparation to my assistant or should I do it myself?

I'm clueless and don't no if makes a great difference by letting my assistent do something. By the way he's getting payed do something.

this fking game omfg! i have not played fm 13 allot (not even trough first season) but wtf?
Is it just me or is this years game completely retarded? :S My great working tactics from fm 12 are complete **** in fm 13, the players are not doing what they should be doing..i had a tactic where its focused on good inside forwards who get ball allot (ronaldo etc) but in fm 13 that inside forward barely touches the ball :S and when he dose hes not being creative like he shud be hes just doing simple passes back to fullback or midfield..

And to Sports Interactive "out of form" seems to mean braindead?? :S sometimes the stuff i se my players doing is just completlly retarded (when defending a corner, freekick etc) :S

I am NOT here to talk **** about the game im just frustraded... when i create a tactic i allways make sure i have players that can play the various roles, and i theory the tactic should work good...farily good at least... but on the pitch its not even close to how my team should be playing :S :S how can real madrid, inter, bayern etc. play a friendly againts an unknow team and not creat 1 (!!!) hightlight in an entire half?? for me it seems that they have completly changed the way tactics work bcuz my tactics have never been this "way of" ....

sigh.... anyways ....

Its OK to be frustrated and also OK to went it :D

The thing is though, that FM13 is a game will be much, much better than FM12. This new Match Engine will let you play the kind of football you want, will let to emulate all kinds of formations and styles. But until it has been patched up, there are still functions that simply are slightly broken. Along with some animation issues, its rather difficult to read the ME, especially if comparing to FM12.3 that had a really flawed ME.

If one made a "working tactic" in FM12 that produced results by using workarounds that avoided the AI to exploit the weaknesses of that ME, whilst at the same time exploiting some of these ME issues, then FM13 is a different thing. You see, this year, these issues are different so the tactic you used that seemed to be logical, using these workarounds now addresses problems that does not longer exists at the same time that it does not address the problems that does

Personally, my tactics works more or less the same, with a few exceptions like the "overload " approach or the stretching of defence in Attack. But in the end, they produce the same result and almost the same flow of the game.

My tip is..Hang in there, better things are to come

( remember the totaly broken 12.0.4 where the AI never actully learned their tactuc, but insetad always where akward with them)

Achieved solid results with a fairly average HSV side.

The tactic set was fantastic at home (12 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss, 44 GF, 20 GA).
Not so good away from home (3 wins, 9 draws, 5 losses, 19 GF, 29 GA).

The GA away from home is a little bit misleading as we had one real incredible stinker where we got mauled 7-2 by Frankfurt of all teams. Went down 3-0 early and nothing seemed to go right after that regardless of which approach I used. My side in general was a little lost on the road. Had a ton of trouble scoring regardless of approach taken, and cautious possession wound up getting me smacked on the road, so I settled on counter.

HSV is a weird choice I feel cause they're somewhere between a team that would work with the possession approaches and the counter approaches. I actually settled on using Overload for most home games, if not all. I'd step it back to attacking possession with a 2 goal lead. As I mentioned we only lost 1 match at home (1-3 to Dortmund very early in the season), actually beat Bayern 4-2 at home.

All in all, very happy with the tactic given the fairly weak squad. The defenders really are nothing special in this side, the strikers are fairly not well rounded, neither of the original two could pass or fill the STR role, but I did bring in Helenius who had a fantastic run out to the season.

Anyway enough blabber, here's the league table and stats.

haha yea its really easy to get frustrated with these games xD However, i seem to have created a preety nice tactic for my new save with atletico madrid, so kinda happy now :P
yea there are some issues iv noticed, hitting the bar happens way to often especially from freekicks.... shots from wierd angels go in way to often to... kinda hard to have a solid defense, they are like chikens "where do we go! what do we do!" lol

With a nice patch it should be good i think :)

Sounds like à good season and if having been able to to be lite clinical using Counter, you could well have gotten another 8 or 9 points when playing away.

I would not leave training to him as he wont have à clue about your actuall tactic and matchplan. I would listen to him/scouts pregame though about the match prep. Sometimes their suggestions are pretty good but sometimes they are nonsense.

Do you change style & strategy or use same to all teams ?
and which shouts you prefer to use ?

Have à read in the opening post mate. This is à set Of 4 versions made using classic mode ( shouts are enabled) where you change version depending on the match situation.

Ok, thanks. Going to try it...

First results in competition are promising, after 5 games (w3-d1-l1) I'm third. With no great players not bad, I'll keep you informed about the results and my experience.

HI TBH, have you had any more recent results with this narrow 4123? i had a look at it late yesterday when i got home, but didnt get round to testing it. i noticed your two wide strikers had very different settings, didnt expect that! do you think you can elaborate on what u expect to get out of each position? just so i can see if they suit my players. thanks

TheBetterHalf, quick question for you. I see you tried this tactic with Leicester City (my home team). I really want to start a game of FM13 with them but struggle massively with finding a tactic to fit them. Do you think this will work for them in FM13? Also it says that you had the best team in the world. Did you take over them when they had this team or did you use this tactic from the start to make them the best team in the world?

Those screens are from FM12 and by that time, I had build à TEAM( not the best players, but as à dynamic group) that was one of
the best in the world. I did not use this tactic from the start though, I think it was à 4231 and à deep 442 and with those we actually won promotion and then the Prem in the first season.

They basically have different settings to more dimensions into the game. I state that I use inside forwards but you can use advanced playmaker AMC/FC players to. To have the best result, make sure that they complete each other.

Thanks for that, I managed to do the same with LCFC in FM12 played a 424 and won the premier league. Just cant seem to find or create a decent tactic this year with anyone let alone LCFC! Sorry shouldve mentioned before that I noticed your success was on FM12. Do you think this tactic will work with LCFC this season? They do seem to have relatively the same squad.

hmm... have any of you noticed that this years game is hard in a kinda wierd way?.. i am all for the challange and all but .... when the opposing team makes a mistake and it looks like its a chance for my team they dont take advantage of that... they kinda ignore it and pass around like nothing happend... and it dosent matter what i tweak in the tactics...
Sports Interactive clearly wanted the game to be harder, and they succeded but they have at the same time made the game really stupid in some situations on the pitch...
Hopeing for a nice patch to get this sorted! :D

edit: Creating ccc is so haaardddd lol... i have 60%+ possession without even going for a possession oriented tactic but creating ccc is not on the map ... ohhhh what to do
