Its OK to be frustrated and also OK to went it
The thing is though, that FM13 is a game will be much, much better than FM12. This new Match Engine will let you play the kind of football you want, will let to emulate all kinds of formations and styles. But until it has been patched up, there are still functions that simply are slightly broken. Along with some animation issues, its rather difficult to read the ME, especially if comparing to FM12.3 that had a really flawed ME.
If one made a "working tactic" in FM12 that produced results by using workarounds that avoided the AI to exploit the weaknesses of that ME, whilst at the same time exploiting some of these ME issues, then FM13 is a different thing. You see, this year, these issues are different so the tactic you used that seemed to be logical, using these workarounds now addresses problems that does not longer exists at the same time that it does not address the problems that does
Personally, my tactics works more or less the same, with a few exceptions like the "overload " approach or the stretching of defence in Attack. But in the end, they produce the same result and almost the same flow of the game.
My tip is..Hang in there, better things are to come
( remember the totaly broken 12.0.4 where the AI never actully learned their tactuc, but insetad always where akward with them)
doesnt let me use the tactic mate? how do i sort this out ?
Achieved solid results with a fairly average HSV side.
The tactic set was fantastic at home (12 wins, 4 draws, 1 loss, 44 GF, 20 GA).
Not so good away from home (3 wins, 9 draws, 5 losses, 19 GF, 29 GA).
The GA away from home is a little bit misleading as we had one real incredible stinker where we got mauled 7-2 by Frankfurt of all teams. Went down 3-0 early and nothing seemed to go right after that regardless of which approach I used. My side in general was a little lost on the road. Had a ton of trouble scoring regardless of approach taken, and cautious possession wound up getting me smacked on the road, so I settled on counter.
HSV is a weird choice I feel cause they're somewhere between a team that would work with the possession approaches and the counter approaches. I actually settled on using Overload for most home games, if not all. I'd step it back to attacking possession with a 2 goal lead. As I mentioned we only lost 1 match at home (1-3 to Dortmund very early in the season), actually beat Bayern 4-2 at home.
All in all, very happy with the tactic given the fairly weak squad. The defenders really are nothing special in this side, the strikers are fairly not well rounded, neither of the original two could pass or fill the STR role, but I did bring in Helenius who had a fantastic run out to the season.
Anyway enough blabber, here's the league table and stats.
Is it possible te leave training and match preparation to my assistant or should I do it myself?
I'm clueless and don't no if makes a great difference by letting my assistent do something. By the way he's getting payed do something.
Do you change style & strategy or use same to all teams ?
and which shouts you prefer to use ?
I would not leave training to him as he wont have à clue about your actuall tactic and matchplan. I would listen to him/scouts pregame though about the match prep. Sometimes their suggestions are pretty good but sometimes they are nonsense.
TheBetterHalf, quick question for you. I see you tried this tactic with Leicester City (my home team). I really want to start a game of FM13 with them but struggle massively with finding a tactic to fit them. Do you think this will work for them in FM13? Also it says that you had the best team in the world. Did you take over them when they had this team or did you use this tactic from the start to make them the best team in the world?
HI TBH, have you had any more recent results with this narrow 4123? i had a look at it late yesterday when i got home, but didnt get round to testing it. i noticed your two wide strikers had very different settings, didnt expect that! do you think you can elaborate on what u expect to get out of each position? just so i can see if they suit my players. thanks
Those screens are from FM12 and by that time, I had build à TEAM( not the best players, but as à dynamic group) that was one of
the best in the world. I did not use this tactic from the start though, I think it was à 4231 and à deep 442 and with those we actually won promotion and then the Prem in the first season.
