***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

i'm using this tactic with Derby County. Attacking Left Mirror looks great but Counter left Mirror didn't do well for my team. so far, i won 6, draw 2, lose 1.

I have used one of tbhs' tactics in FM13 with Everton and it was very succesfull. It used the same format for the 4 tactics as this one but obviously a different overall tactic. The way I got the best out of that is by constantly reviewing what is going on in the game in terms of match stats and possession and then changing my tactic centred on this.

Starting a game I would always use either attacking or cautious depending on the quality of who I am playing. I would switch from attacking to cautious during the game if I was dominating possession but the opposition were creating too many chances, and to counter if I wasnt dominating possession.

I often switched between tactics 2-3 times in a game and it was really succesfull with my Everton side in their first season (won the league).

I am going to try this tactic in the same way but with City and keep you posted.

Any impact of the update on the tactic do we think?

I'm pretty sure I started my Everton save that was mega succesfull before the update therefore it would maybe make sense if people are struggling with it.

What do you think TBH?

Nah, the latest patch was only a hotfix, including NO changes at all to the Match Engine.
Also, the person/people currently struggling with the set are the same that struggled 2 weeks ago to.

so would you say your assymetric tactics are even better than these tactics? in your opinion which is the best fm13 tactic you have created, bear in mind i am chelsea, cheers

i have used the asymetric tactic with great success with chelsea, won league comfortably and had great results. I did find I concede more goals than on for example Houghs tactics, however not drastically more, but i like this tactic as you can get best out of hazard and oscar in the attacking mid positions, as well as playing two strikers, which I prefer... hope this helps...

Like stated above, the Asymmetric really suits Chelsea. Whether it " better" or not, I dont know though.

Really like the thought you've put into these tactics. Which one do you suggest using with Man United?

Actually, I could not say as its down to your preferences. If wanting to use Evra/Buttner as the WBL and prefer à team player like Valencia or à player like Nani in AMR, then use that version. If wanting to use Valencia as the WBR and perhaps RVP as AML, having room for both Chicarito, Rooney and à signing up front, then use that version

Works great with West Brom!! Thx mate!

Thats great to hear. Would you like to upload some screens and perhaps tell us how you approach the set ? When and why you use " version X" and what tendencys you look for on the pitch when evaluating if to switch version.

Cheers

TBH,

Playing City, having MrHoughs 3-2-3-2 working wonders, but i always like to have 3 tactics.

Since i only have 2 spaces left, which should i use? I think Attacking and Counter, because playing away against Barcelona, Chelsea or Utd, counter should work better, and attacking should work if the main tactic is not producing as expected.

I have, to the left side Bale, Clichy and Silva. To the right i have Chamberlain, Milner and Nasri.

The DMC i have Toure, Garciam Papadoupolos and Kara and maybe Mountinho can play as DLP

What do you think?

Sounds good. Counter vs Cautious against top teams is à hard choice though.

Don't forget that i'm also a top team. not Barca, ofc, but also good. What is the main difference, in defense setting, from Cautions to Counter?

Counter: sitting back with men behind the ball and once the opponent tries to attack, we are agressive and try to steal the ball an launch à Counter attack, exploiting an already open space. Players moving upfield AHEAD Of the ball ( more risky)

Cautious: Try to retain possession without as many riskier passes/moves. Players moving upfield as an unit behind the ball.

In cautions, do they retain the ball? If so, that's also very risky, no?

Retain as in " trying to keep possession".

Every approach has its riska though, just like it has its rewards. Playing Wide and attacking, you risk getting hit on the counter. Playing more compact and Cautious, you risk being too passive. Launching Quick breaks( Counter) you risk loosing out in possession if there is ni space to exploit.

Hi TBH,

I found your FM12 4231 works quite well on FM13. The following is how I played with Arsenal. Thank you very much for your wonderful efforts.

Thebetterhalf.freeforums.org • View topic - 4231 - Cautious - Counter - Attack

When every match start, I watch the opponent's Goals Analysis. The time he scored more, it is the defend time. The time he conceded more, it is the attack time. And I will switch different tactic according to the defend/attack time.

For example, if meet Swansea, and Arsenal is the favorite. At the defend time, I will use cautious 4231. At attack time, I will use attack 4231.

Right now, first season, my Arsenal is 22 win, 6 draw, 3 loss, sitting at the top on Apr 5th . Win at home for Champions Cup Qtr Final. On the way to FA cup semi Final.

I only bought Baines for 10.5M at January, loan Santos out.

My team is the following:

GK: Szczesny / Fabianski / Mannone
DR: Sagna / Jenkinson
DL: Baines/ Gibbs / Santos
DC: Vermaelen / Mertesacker / Koscielny / Djourou / Squillaci
MCL (Defend) : Arteta ( 5 goal, 6 assist)/ Coquelin ( 4 goal, 2 assist)/ Frimpong ( 2 goal, 2 assist)
MCR (Suppport) : Diaby ( 3goal, 6 assist)/ Ramsey ( 2 goal, 4 assist)
AMC : Cazorla ( 7 goal, 7 assist)/ Wilshere ( 8 goal, 4 assist) / Arshavin ( 3 goal, 2 assist) / Rosicky ( 1 goal, 5 assist)
AML : Podolski ( 7goal, 6 assist) / Chemberlain (2 goal, 3 assist)
AMR: Gervinho (6 goal, 6 assist) /Walcott (8 goal, 8 assist)
FC: Giroud (19 goal) / chamakh (13 goal)

The team all works perfectly, only I am not that satified with Santos performance. There are always injuries, but I survived.....

I kept using this way, and it is quite enjoyable for my FM13 right now.

Thats great ! I Will be looking into testing that set next and use àn underdog to see if its still as stable as in FM12.
