***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Actually, I could not say as its down to your preferences. If wanting to use Evra/Buttner as the WBL and prefer à team player like Valencia or à player like Nani in AMR, then use that version. If wanting to use Valencia as the WBR and perhaps RVP as AML, having room for both Chicarito, Rooney and à signing up front, then use that version

Yeah i would use valencia/rafael as the wingbacks etc i meant more about which style of play would ideally suit Man United more in your opinion? The counter or overload etc :) Thanks for your replies

I would load up all but Overload...in some games though, I would still switch to Overload just pre-kickoff home against lesser teams that are known to sit deep. I have done with Man U, Chelsea and City to really grab that earl goal. Just be aware Of that the riskier approach, the harder the fall Will be Of the players are being complacent.

Hey, TBH I'm using arsenal at the moment, I'm doing badly in away games despite using the COUNTER tactics (When lose out possession). When I switched to ATTACK sometimes I score but most of the times I concede even more. Did I do something wrong?

Hard to say as I would need to know about the flow Of the game, against what opponents, your ability to motivate the players etc.

Personally, I never start with Counter but implement it only when seing that there is space to exploit.

Playing with Crewe and witht he Cautios at home and Counter away but we are not steady. Im losing like 0-5 at home with the Cautios, what can i do about this? We are like 10-15 matches underway.

Again, hard to say. Do you have à team that suits the approach. What do you do when you see things going wrong ? If being 2-0 down with Cautious, do you still continue with it . When using Counter away, are you using it as à reaction to what you see on the pitch or do you just plug it in ?

If you are loosing most Of your matches bit numbers, it suggests there is something more than tactics going wrong.

Wondering how people play away from home?

I'm really struggling here. I use a slightly tweaked version of either 4-1DM-2CM-2 IF-1 Forward. Or 4-2-3-1 (with AM and 2 wingers)

Even on defensive or counter i seem to ship goals (my main concern) but also struggle to score

I'm Newcastle, season 1. Sold Ben Arfa and Tiote for 23M each. Used the funds to buy Isco, viktor fischer, wellington nem, and radja nainggolan

Any thoughts on how to get away from home correct?

I use zonal marking, mixed passing and try and push up slightly (but not too much). Seem to suffer a lot from through balls and not sure how to cut these out

TBH,

As always, i've tried this in my "trial tactic savegame", putting the tactic 100 % with FMRTE to test it properly and not to have to wait for hlaf a season to see it fluid.

Game: League Cup, away against Man Utd. Me? Man City

Used the counter version.

Lost 1-0 - shooting as 14-2.

What i saw wrong, IMO?

The midfielders where completely lost the entire game and the AMC didn't linked the game with the FCs, who didn't touch the ball in proper conditions. As a result, the team was always running from one side to the other, leaving the 3 defenders alone against Fabio, Nani Kagawa, RVP and Rooney and the LFB, because they where all keeping an eye on the 2 MCs which i may say didn't had a change, ofc.

The MR and the ML where in a constant 2 to 1 position and when the left or right CB as going to cover, he was passed by easily, leaving the space behind him for them to enter the box or to cover to the 2 FCs alone with one CB.

Also, when recovering the ball in my own box, i could not get it fast and safe into the opposition midfield, lost the ball near the box and there we go again!

On the other hand, playing with 10 against West Ham, away and winning 1-2, i've dropped 1 FC and i could easy beat them in counter and finish the game 1-3. Goal from the MR with a cross from the ML.

Again, using MrHoughs 3-5-2, the team is more capable in defending the 1-2s from the wings and getting the ball higher in the field, and i think you should check it. If you could get the team to be more aggressive in the midfield line to be more easy to get to the other team box, it would be a great addiction to this tactic.

My 2 cents ofc, im no near your capacity in doing tactics and i have to thank you for doing this.

Thanks for the feedback. When seing à scenario like this, its crucial that we switch to the Cautious Posession approach. Counter does not work( and should not work) against à team playing the way you described man U to be doing. Here, we simply get dragga out Of position and when we do get the ball , there is no space to exploit as they play as à unit, not loosing their defensive shape. Naturally, anything can happen in any match but if you ser these scenarios against other teams than United and not in à small cup game, I would consider the possession versions.

- Notice that I am referring to MY Counter version and not playing on the break in generall.

tried using this with bolton, not doing well for me :/

What are your players like? Are they suitable? I had to make changes to my squad to make sure the players were suitable for the formation and strategy

Cheers for the tactic, by far the most effective I've seen so far for fm13.

I'm using the Attacking/Cautious Combo from the Assymetric pack and apart from the Community Shield, a 1-0 defeat, my Chelsea team are 100% in all competitions, 13 straight wins (8 Prem, 2 CL, 1 Super Cup, 2 LC).

Hazard is lethal in this formation, and it suits Ramires and Mata well in the centre too. I'm sure Mikel could have filled the most defensive centre position but I bought in Fellaini instead.

New at this forum and just bought FM 13. Started a game with Swansea and hunted down this thread. After a shaky start (first 10 8-10 games), things are looking better. The team has started to play some nice football, and I've learned not to expect to much in the start. The version picking went a bit over board in the start due to me being inpatient for results. Hopefully I've learned a little bit.

Now that the players know the tactic, I feel I can have a look at how they perform during matches, by watching the game, and reading the analysis after each game. I've got ok players for each role, but I am not sure about the MCr role and what player to use. Leon Britton has played mostly in this position, but struggles a bit because of his rather low Off the ball attribute. I should probably use him in DMc.

The instructions state "Pass and move" for the MCr position, so that probably means I need a player who's able to move his feet around at the right time? What I've seen from Britton is that he's not able to involve himself very much in this role, and that's a bit sad since he is a good player.

Hi

This is really impressive!! The system plays beautifully and flowing. Im impressed with dthe defensive stability, wich is the best ive seen on FM2013. Also the passing and patient probing is excellent. Thank you so much TBH. This has made the game enjoyable to me. It plays so much like a Barca tactic IMO. Think I will change the wingers to more inside forward, when I fully understand what is going on.

Having fun now :)

By far the best set of tactics I have used, and rarely conceding goals which Iv struggled to do with any other tactics!

Will let you know how I get on with the rest of my season. Cheers mate .

Using the attacking one against lower and middle teams and using the cautious one against the big teams and some middle teams when playing away from home.

Thats awesome ! I really like using asymmetric formations to get the best out Of the players. Btw, are you using the 451 or the 4222 ?

Ok so i have used this tactic for my Napoli save and i must say im impressed. I would do a screenshot but no idea how too, so i will name a few of my amazing results...i beat Roma 7-3 at home, just beat Cagliari 5-0, 4-1 over Viola, 5-0 over Palermo too name a few.
I must say that im getting a lot of bookings though, any reason in particular?
