***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

TBH, have you tried creating anything with the TC yet or do you simply prefer classic? i've always gonne classic myself, until recently. I have a theory...8-| With the new patch, the ME is now very similar to what SI intended it to be in the first place (when and for which they created the specific slider settings for specific roles and duties), so in theory, if you manage to create a "balanced tactic", in the way of choosing appropriate style and strategy to fit a specific formation and the positions and duties in this formation are balanced within themselves, this should work far better now that before the last patch. so big slider variations from the default settings of certain positions or style of play, in most cases, may not work so well as before. Thus making classic tactic creating harder.

i just read this over and seems confusing lol, do you get what i mean?

Sorry fo my english,i am from russia, give me the advice- i play with Napoli,home- attack tip of tactic, away i use counter- is it right choice, what kind or player i must use in left winger(insigle, vargas),what important atributes for him.Thanks...

I used this tactic in my first season with Bradford, I was top of the league on many times throughout the season and it was so tight between either winning the league and losing it all and missing a play off place. My worry with this tactic is how many goals I conceded and going into league 1 I don't know whether Bradford will be able to outscore the opposition as we did in league 2.

I mainly used the counter attacking version as my starting tactic as this is what got me the best results. Using the other versions during my season often resulted in losses or draws in games I should of won :(

Most of the times when playing down the league system, the players are just not good enough to play a possession based approach ( attack and cautious) so I am not surprised that the Counter version ( relying on speed and strength) is the one that got you this results. As a newly promoted team, I would still use this formation given that it still suits your squad. If you on the other hand manage to sign wingers of league one ( or higher) quality, I would use my 451 instead. In the end, it's about playing to thev strength of the team .

It's all about using a player that is really good at what he is doing. If he is an Inside Forward, make sure that he is righ footed and knows how to pass, score and have some flair. If he likes to huge the touchline, make sure that he is left footed and actually have
good acceleration and crossing. If he is a player that likes to come deep to get the ball, make sure he has good off the ball andd passing stats. So you see, you can use any type of player here. I prefer the one coming deep and with great work rate.

As usual, every year I like to create my own tactics on fm just to reassure myself that no I can't actually do it and should probably continue just downloading tactics- but hey, there is no harm in trying. This year I have realised that simplicity is everything and in fact you don't need to overcomplicate things to replicate the football that you wish to play.

Typically, I am managing the mighty united (Of Manchester, as its the only united worth talking about obviously ;) )

I think I am going to play with 2 approaches, but with the same basic concepts, attacking possession. However, I intend to do this in a Flat 442, not necessarily for home games, but just for easier games and when I feel like it, and also a deep 4231 ( with wide wingers) for when I really want to bog down the midfield against those top teams in Europe and let RVP run loose against the opposition back line.

Team instructions for BOTH formations:

Fluid
Control

Short Passing
More Expressive Creative Freedom
More Pressing
Zonal Marking
Default Roaming
Default Tackling
Default Crossing

If I am right this should provide my team with a slow and patient possession approach, probing at the opposition defence and yet giving them enough freedom and fluidity to suddenly exploit a gap and slot through a winger/striker. In defence the team will quickly retain possession and then settle back into a steady passing rhythm.

Roles and Duties (Flat 442):

(Don't necessarily take notice of the players in each position, im just finding a balance for the tactic and suggesting what player I might play in that position)

Rafael- Full back (Support)
Evra- Full back (Support)
Ferdinand- Ball playing defender (Defend)
Vidic- Centre Defender (Defend)
Carrick/ Nainggolan- Ball Winning Midfielder (Defend)
Gotze/ Kagawa- Advanced Playmaker (Support)
Nani - Winger (Attack)
Young Winger (Attack)
Rooney- Deep lying forward (Support)
Robin Van Persie - Poacher or Advanced forward?? (Attack)

Roles and Duties (4231 deep with wide wingers):

Rafael- Full back (Support)
Evra- Full back (Support)
Ferdinand- Ball playing defender (Defend)
Vidic- Centre Defender (Defend)
Carrick- Deep lying Playmaker (Support)
Fletcher - Defensive Midfielder (Defend)
Gotze- Inside forward or Advanced playmaker??? (Attack)
Nani - Inside forward or Advanced playmaker??? (Attack)
Rooney- Advanced Playmaker (Support)
RVP - Poacher or Advanced Forward??? (Attack)

I think I have quite a good concept here, there are a few things I am not too sure about. Could you please answer the questions as to what roles and duties i should use for some players- I have left question marks next to the positions I am not sure about. Then, could you check/ consider that my actual Formation and roles and duties are balanced.

Thanks, for the help. I feel I am getting closer to making my own tactics with the creator.

Looks good. As both Rooney and RVP likes to come deep, I would use at least one of the wingers on attack. Götze = adv playmaker, Nani = inside FC. The FC, I would use as either a complete FC on attack or an advanced FC.

Looking forward hearing about your results

any tips TBH? using it with west ham and not working really,

Hard to say as it can be down both to man management, using the incorrect players, having a too poor team or picking the versions wrong.

Perhaps if you describe how you use it and how you determine when to switch approach ingame ?

normally i start playing cautious, then when i realise that the opposition it pushing up i drop my wing backs to full backs and play counter, depending on the score line, if i am a goal down or its drawing i overload

Should i train my ST to AM in the direct counter deep and narrow 4-6-0 tactics?

None of these tactics work at Classic Mode.
Currently with Bristol City; 1st after 21 games, but i need to change tactics after EVERY MATCH /otherwise ALWAYS lose next game/; now i'm struggling with ManU away - i tried 32 times - different tactics, different players, different formations - and i lost all of them.
Something is really wrong with this game.
