England 23 Man Squad Announced

For all his greatness, Capello makes some choices that makes everyone feel WTF!!. Upson, what more he has to do to prove he is **** and what more Dawson has to do to prove he is better player than Upson.

Heskey? Yes there is some sense in picking him up as he brings the best of Rooney, but Upson? Can he do that to Rio or Terry?

I agree with you in a sense, Dawson is a better defender than Upson in my opinion but Dawson has no England starts (as far as I know, if has some then VERY few) so it's risky blooding him when it really matters.

As for Heskey I can't be bothered to justify why he should start for England yet again, sufice to say Capello picked him so he can't be as bad as people make out.

Nah, I turned them down. ;) :P

So are you saying its fate that he's not going? Personally I think it's bullshit. Half the sqaud is naff to be honest.

Maybe you should have been the England manager. **** FA.

Dont be bothered coz i have never had a word against Heskey's selection. I liked that Capello selected him.

Upson having so many starts ***** everytime when he turns up in white. What i like in Dawson is, he has fighting spirit and he is a leader.

4 o'clock... watch now, Theo will be there, and will show he has an awesome sense of humour.

Upson is officially in the squad! :/

Capello's words when he got the job that only players in form would be picked is now officially bullshit.

Goalkeepers
Robert Green, Joe Hart, David James
Defenders
Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock
Midfielders
Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips
Forwards
Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney

Some little stats.

Bent has made 3 appearances for England and we've never scored a goal when he's on the pitch.

Under Capello, when Rooney has played with Heskey (9 games) he's scored 9 goals.

Picked from someother forum.

Those 4, we could have done better. Maybe Richards, Dawson, Parker/Huddlestone, and Adam johnson. Its just my opinion.

3 games isnt really a fair assessment. Alot of other countries have played more friendlies in the build up to the World Cup. Maybe England should have done. Also I would like to know who the games were against.

In the end if england do well they can take 11 spud players for me, im over the theo thing i like lennon and hope he gets a chance to shine, sorry for theo but its all about england not club teams.
so come on england!!

picking on form only works if you feel the players can transfer that domestic form onto the international stage. whats dones is done lets see where it takes us

Honestly, J.Cole, Carrick, SWP and Upson... When they have had average, at best, seasons.

Feel for Huddlestone, Dawson and Johnson tbh, but meh what can you do.

He should have said 'Look guys, I am goint to pick the team purely on reputation, doesn't matter if you have a **** season, its fine.'

I agree mate, Carragher's just had a pretty torrid season and SWP is terrible, I can't work out those two selections. Carrick's a slightly strange one aswell.

So you want me to do all the research and spoon feed you? lol..

Gutted baines isn't in the squad but if he's homesick then i guess capello really didn't have a choice.

Would have preferred dawson to upson but i guess it would be a risk bringing someone with no caps to the world cup.

Glad walcott isn't in.

very rarely does reputation not translate into talent. unless you're Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Well if you dont mind.... :P

No, I was just making a point that I doubt that the games that Heskey has played in with Rooney that have got Rooney 9 goals were against decent teams.
